Seems zooming during video shooting is out of vogue. So what's the point of the Panasonic PZ lenses? I tried a 45-175 yesterday and it cannot hold focus while zooming anyway. I like the range, but what ami missing?

Thoughts?

Guess the silence reflects general agreement that the PZ function is a non starter....

Nothing wrong with zooming in video. You don't see it in movies but in other types of production , especially for just casual use, why not? That's what dedicated video camcorders use. It's nice and smooth vs jerky unpleasant zooming with manual zooms.
I use it for concerts. I think it's pretty spectacular but I am very much a casual user.
