This Spotted Towhee was more reclusive than the Steller's Jay above, but I managed to catch him singing.

Nice. What time of day was this?

I've never seen the ones around my house before dusk so I've never gotten a pic of one in daylight. Also, I haven't seen them go much above ground level.

It was after breakfast at our B&B in Oregon. According to the file info, it was about 9:30 AM (PDT).

I found one in my front yard a couple of winters back, around midday, and atop our dwarf Japanese maple:

I haven't been shooting many birds lately. Here are a couple ok recent grabs.

This Great Blue Heron has a morning look I'm certainly familiar with. The golden light this morning was really somethin' else:

This green heron was perched over deep water, watching for his breakfast. I think this one is much more of a morning person than the GBH.

I've seen a ton of Belted Kingfishers this summer. Sadly, they move around constantly, and cover quite a large range, between the canal and river, which run parallel for the most part, and close. It can often take them well over an hour or more to complete a circuit of their territory and return to where you first saw them. I've seen very little continuous fishing of one area, since the water plants gave the fish places to hide. I caught this guy swerving around a tree during his dive, and really liked the posture:

Nice photos, good colour and sharpness. Like the catch light in the eyes.

Stepped outside late this afternoon after a 4.64 inch thunderstorm and found this in my front yard looking for supper. Probably 50' from me. Went and got my E-M5 and put the P100-300 on it and took several shots before a passing neighbor spooked the bird off.

Fantastic shots! I'm assuming these are heavily cropped? I tried to take a few shots of some Egrets this morning (E-M5 mk1 and 70-300 II) using a tripod and decent light but they came out nothing like these. Mine are somewhat of a blurry mess when zoomed in.

Quite the poser:
