This female mallard started tapping on my trousers with her beak while I was lying down and trying to get pictures of more distant birds. I suppose she was trying to point out that I was expected to give her something to eat. Unfortunately I had no food. P35-100, 44 mm.

We had a cardinal that occupied some trees with a bird feeder at our old apartment complex. Tried for 4 years to get a good shot.

I put a bird feeder out in a garden in the front of our house a few months ago, and caught this guy snacking. Taken through the front dining window with E-PL5 and 40-150mm at 150mm.

Grab shots with the Pana 100-300 at full-stretch and cropped by about 1/3. If I'd had time in retrospect I should have gone for 275 and cropped further - they might have been sharper that way...

Can anyone ID this bird? The behavior is much like a Northern Flicker - in the grass hammering holes in the ground looking for insects. I've been here 28 years and have never seen one like it around here.

Love this photo - it almost looks like 3 separate images of the same bird composited together.

The stick-like thing hanging out of its coat is a radio tag.

With Ospreys nesting, started going to one of their favorite fishing holes. Shooting here is going to hugely improve my technique & just maybe help refine E-M1 AF settings for the ZD300 (& other 43 tele?).

E-M1+ZD300+EC14 w/C-AF (all AF points)

Got several sharp captures after a dive into the water to get a fish.

When they tuck & do a full dive, their acceleration is simply stunning. So far haven't succeeded getting a full sequence into the water. Got this much on a day w/ light raining.
