Now Sigma are going to make lenses for m4/3

I'm going to have to agree with Ned on this one. There are quite a few very good Sigma lenses. There 70mm and 105mm macros are as good and probably better any macro lens produce by Nikon or Canon at an equivalent price point $500-$700. In fact I would go so far as to say most Sigma lenses are...

    Showcase Olympus 45mm f/1.8

I have three altogether. Stanley is my older rescue. Ruby and Hugo are so sweet I just cannot understand why someone dumped them like that. They love dogs, people, and cats. I have a 4 month old kitten I found. She eats out their bowls while they are eating. Oh well, I figure some dumb...

    Best lenses you've *ever* used?

I'm with Nick on the 35mm. It's really great. Also the Pentax 31mm. That lens is just incredible and worth it's somewhat steep price. It's a shame Pentax isn't better known. The K5 is a really great camera. I'd also throw in the Super Takumar 85mm F1.8. Very few lenses are really good...

    4:3 Aspect Ratio Printing Question

I print at 12 x 16 on a Canon Pixma Pro with various Red River papers. I just don't like cropping. I do shoot in 1 x 1 at least 50% of the time. Ikea makes a frame series called Ribba. They are matted at 11.5 x 15.5. The also make on in the same line that is matted at 11.5 X 11.5.

    Lycosa tarantula

I'm normally a bit arachnophobic. However tarantulas are the exception. There are large numbers of tarantulas where I live in Texas. They are really fascinating. We just got through mating season with them. I would see 10-12 of them every night when I was out walking my dogs. Here's a...

Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye for Micro Four Thirds Sample Images Released

I have the Kmount version. Very good lens. I think it was about $300 so I can't see the MFT being much more. I'm sure it won't auto focus but on this type of lens it's really not necessary.

Leica 25mm f/1.4 Summilux for Micro 4/3 to Cost $900?

Much as I would like this lens, $900 is way too much for me. My Pentax 31 limited cost that much, it's all metal. The 77mm cost $100 less.

Where exactly is this park. I live in Bastrop but have to come into Austin every week to do the grocery shopping, drug store shopping, ect for my elderly parents. My Mom has Alzheimer's so it's really a burden for Dad. I always bring my two dogs with me because Mom likes them so much. They...

    Fuji X100 Reviewed at DPReview

Ray, I have one on pre-order and will probably be waiting a while I guess. I have two questions: 1) I read where you can actually use F2.0 at faster shutter speeds in Manual Exposure mode. Is this correct? 2) If so is the camera metering correctly? Thanks!

    kiron macro 105mm 2.8

Optically this is one of the finest macro lenses ever made. The bokeh is fabulous and you can actually use it at smaller apertures than f16. However, it's really probably too big for an EP1. Definitely use a tripod or monopod.

The Pinwide - 11mm Pinhole Photography for Micro 4/3

I have a number of macro lenses I use but only one can handle above f16 (really f11) without a lot diffraction setting in, the Lester Dine 105. So at f45 you are going to get loads of diffraction. I believe this thing is an f45. Personally I think M4/3 cameras are best left at ISO 400 or...

Thanks for helping. It's definitely broken. My K mount adapter is a Novoflex so it has the aperture control ring. I don't think it's a problem with every adapter.

    EPL2 Question

Also- I've tried a Konica adapter, a Pentax K adapter, an M42 adapter, a c mount adapter and the Lensbaby tilt transformer. They all behave exactly the same way. On M the it's so dark you can't see anything, switch it to Aperture Priority or an Art Filter and it's fine.

    EPL2 Question

I tried that. I sitting here looking through a Konica 40mm f1.9 at f1.9 and according to the meter I'm way overexposed. I can barely see anything on the viewfinder. I think something is broken with the camera? As soon as I switch it to Aperture Priority it's fine. I'm mystified. Plus I'm...

I would appreciate any help I could get on this. When using my new EPL2 with a Pentax, Konica, M42, and Lensbaby Tilt Transformer lenses, I can't get the VF2 or LCD to function correctly in the M mode. I pretty shoot everything in M so this is a problem for me. My various Panasonic and...

Thom Hogan on the future of Olympus.

Geesh, I shoot Pentax, Olympus, and Sigma. I'm really depressed. I swear on the Pentax forum it's a constant drum beat of Pentax is going out of business. It's died off somewhat with the K5, but I figure give it a few months and it will start back up. I think Olympus will survive. Not...

Thom Hogan on the future of Olympus.

The Pentax K5 really is a great camera. You should get the 31, 43, 77. They are pricey but definitely worth it both in build and image quality. The DA Limited lenses are also excellent. The 35 is particularly good. I sincerely hope Olympus is OK. I happen to really love the E-P2 and the...

Nikon 4/3 m4/3 coming in April

As a Pentax user, I'm very interested to to see what they come up with. I have a K5 and it is a very good camera, especially when used with the 31, 43, 77 and DA Limiteds. That said I find my self using the E-P2 and a Sigma DP1/DP2 more often than the DSLR. Smaller and lighter is definitely a...

Can you clarify this? I have an E-P2 and am able to use my RAW files in Lightroom 2. "Bad Bits No RAW support in LR and prob not for PS either No MF Adapter yet, gonna have to order one today." How is the EPL2 different. Also, I am about to switch to a Mac, does Aperture not support RAW...

Anyone See any of the E-PL2 reviews??

Here's a good review. This is the guy who convinced me to buy and E-P2 which I have never regretted. Interestingly enough he's using a 40-150mm in addition to the kit lens. I may have to get the 40-150mm The Visual Science Lab / Kirk Tuck: Olympus EPL2 Review, first installment.

Does anyone else feel paranoid or apprehensive?

I'm in total agreement on the politics issue. Besides in my experience is everyone has pretty much drawn a line in the sand and not much is going to change their opinions. I can do with Rush Limbaugh and Keith Olberman on a photo forum. As a person who has moved around a lot in life, I think...

    135mm or 105mm f2.8 lens recommendation

I would recommend the Kiron 105mm. Great lens, incredible bokeh. You can usually find them on Ebay in all kinds of mounts. The Pentax mounts (I have two of them just in case one goes bad...) are sometimes the most expensive because of Pentax's in body stabilization makes them very attractive...

    EPL-1 vs EP-2 question

Hi, I am very happy E-P2 user except......that stupid wheel on the back of the camera that controls the shutter speed. I'm about to pull my hair out over it. I am fully manual shooter, who likes to choose the ISO and the aperture, then shutter speed. I tend to adjust the shutter to the...

    Pentax K Mount Lenses

I guess my concern with Pentax is: A) Is the brand going to be viable 2-3 years from now? B) If they are cancelling the FA Limited's what's, the path with them towards higher end lenses? I just don't use zoom lenses and really outside of the 100mm Macro, I never need anything longer...

    Pentax K Mount Lenses

Unfortunately the the market for used Pentax lenses of certain focal lengths can be rather steep because Pentax uses in body stabilization on their cameras. Plus they really don't have many modern prime lenses. The 100 is a very good lens. I really like Pentax but their recent decision to...

    Pentax K Mount Lenses

Pentax lenses are very good. You can go to Pentax Forums and read their lens review database. Some of the reviews contain a wee bit of hyperbole but are usually pretty accurate. I'm a Pentax user and have a large collection of K mount lenses. The SMC M versions are extremely well constructed...

    Pentax K-5 spotted at Photokina

Zeiss and Voigtlander have discountinued the K mount. I'm a loyal Pentax user, but I really wonder if they are going to make it. I personally don't think Full Frame is the answer for them. But I have a feeling they are in for some rough times ahead.

Lensbaby Tilt transformer for micro four thirds

I'm going to email Kirsten at Lensbaby to see if a K mount is going to be made. They are usually really good about getting back with you. I would guess they will make other mounts at some point. I would buy this but I only have one Nikon lens left from my film days. It's a 50mm f1.8 I use a...

Too bad for me it's Nikon mount. I have the Composer and Muse in K mount so I guess that will have to do for me. I guess since they are K mount I can't use it with this either.
