Description:

This was the most common kit lens for the OM series of 35mm film cameras.
This lens has six elements and a six blade aperture with a range from 1.8 to 16 with no half stop detents.
The minimum focus distance is .45m or 1.5' and it has an effective angle of view of 24 degrees when mounted on an M4/3 camera.
It's threaded for 49mm filters.
More technical information is here:

It does a very nice job taking clear high resolution pictures and there's hardly any issue with high contrast edge ghosting even wide open. It's just a really good, inexpensive, all around lens that's hard to beat.

I found this lens on an Olympus OM-20 (OM-G in the US) for £29 and I am really enjoying it.
It's fast and sharp if stopped down.
At wide aperture is not as sharp as f5.6 and higher, but who needs sharpness and uses such a lens?
For sharpness I go for my kit lens on the E-PL2.
Highly recommended.
Many say latest ones are sharper, I got an earlier one ("japan" instead of "made in Japan", serial 280xxxx) and it's quite sharp!
Have a look:

Aperture ring narrow and a bit stiff

Got a used one for very little on ebay. This OM Zuiko 50 mm f/1.8 is a very nice add-on lens for a E-PL2 kit lens owner. After using only a AF lens, manual shooting gives a totally new perspective to photography.
I have used this lens on my Olympus E-PL2. My lens is surprisingly sharp in the center from wide open on. Stopping down to f/4 improves the corner sharpness a lot and at f/5.6 the sharpness is excellent across the frame. Excellent lens for portraits. With minimum focus distance of 45 cm you can shoot anything bigger than flowers easily.
Build quality is good--solid feel of metal. Zoom ring is smooth and nice. The only annoyance (to me) is the aperture ring. It has nice and clear click-stops but is little too stiff to my taste (others may disagree--in the end it is a quite personal thing). This can well be due to the age of the lens. The serial number of my lens is 2757771.
This lens requires an OM to µ43 adapter to be used on a PEN. I got my adapter as a bonus when I bought the E-PL2. You can find these adapters for €10 - €15 on ebay.
Overall, an excellent piece of glass and highly recommended!
