Pros: Beautifully built, smooth operation
Cons: IQ just about acceptable on µ4/3

At f/2.8 the IQ is not very good. At f/4 it's a little better, but still not great. At f/5.6 IQ in the centre is fine, near the edges fairly pronounced CA rears its ugly head and sharpness is a bit below par, f/8 is nearly the same. This lens shows a fair amount of focus shift, meaning that the focus point changes when stopping down. So you best focus and shoot with the same aperture; focussing at f/2.8 and shooting at f/5.6 yields pictures that are visibly less sharp.

In general pictures tend to be a bit flat, but they shape up nicely in postprocessing when blacks are enhanced (e.g. by bumping up the blacks slider in ACR) and pics have saturated colors and a beautiful tonal scale, as with many Minolta lenses.

Mechanically this is a very fine lens. Focussing is smooth without any play nor wiggle of the inner barrel in the mount. Also the aperture runs smoothly, I'd wish my Nikkors operated like this.

Overall IQ is a just about acceptable, so despite its top-class build I can only marginally recommend this lens for a µ4/3 camera if you're after sharpness.
