MD Zoom 35-70mm f 3.5
This lens was, frankly, dirt cheap. I had done some research online about Minolta lenses and had read that this was the version to get, as opposed to the f3.5 - 4.5, which is apparently a dog, or the older MC version without macro. I bought this lens with a camera attached for £35 and then gave the camera to the photography department of our FE college.
As I am a jeweller, I use macro a LOT. This is not really a "macro" lens, but it does allow for close-focus work and the crop factor of the MFT camera makes the 1:4 more like 1:2 and of course an extension tube can always be used too. I have to say that if I had discovered this lens first, I wouldn't have bought the Panasonic-Leica 45mm f2.8 Macro! (Which is an amazing lens but VERY expensive when compared to this.)
One of the most appealing things about this lens is the build quality. Everything is weighty; movements are smooth and it feels good in the hand and on the camera.
Colour rendering and contrast are good, even at f3.5 and it has very smooth, neutral bokeh both "macro" and normal focus:

It can be a bit of a challenge to focus in low-light but the focus-assist on the G1 helps with this.
The lens is sharp throughout the range (3.5 - 22; it can be locked in f22 for Macro work) and is capable of putting some primes to shame. Close-focus, it comes into its own:

But is not to be sniffed at at the other extreme either:

This was the second Minolta lens I bought and the beginning of my obsession as I realised that phenomenally good lenses were available for relatively little cash.
