IMO this makes sense as someone noted earlier - as a companion lens to what would normally be a 'body only' purchase. Oly probably knows that tons of people will be looking to pick up the new Pens as an upgrade to their existing ones, and this lens gives them a fantastic excuse to now go with a 2-body setup rather than dumping the old body for relatively low return.
I think this would be great on my existing PM1, and would make it a no-brainer to take along with the 'main' body (OM-D or PL-5 or whatever)

Nope. If I'm moving in one direction, and the subject is heading toward me, keeping the shutter speed up to avoid motion blur is more critical for sharp images than having an enormous depth of field.
Thanked by RevBob.

Gonna try this, feel this should be in its own tips post, kind of like a general help type post. This way you can post advice tips like:
Dark room - use high aperture and or ISO to let in as much light as possible if subject is moving. If subject is still increase shutter speed...
Something along those lines.

Theoretically all it would need would be a rubber gasket on the mount to seal it - no AF means no moving parts to seal, so aside from making sure the lense element is properly sealed in as well that would be about it.

Lens hood?

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Thanked by mister_roboto.

Default Perfect street lens

just like using an Olympus Trip and Oly didn't sell many of those did they . Set ISO, switch to manual focus and concentrate on capturing images. A photographers lens, not for pixel peepers .

I still think its a homage to the original http://www.biofos.com/cornucop/pens35.html -

Hopefully they'll do a premium version like the MS Optical Perar -

Thanked by rhoydotp.

My wife won't use a camera unless it's (literally) point and shoot. So I can buy a refurbished PM1 or PL2, add this lens and set it to hyperfocal and auto ISO. She can put it in her handbag and get great shots outdoors, which is what she wants: holiday snaps.

And I get a second body ...

All for 150-200 EUR, £, $

Sounds good to me!

OM-D E-M5, 9-18, 20, 40-150, O45, X100, Small Hadley, big grin!

If it's cheap enough, I'll get one for the GF3.
