So you are willing to spend more on this lens with a hood? Lens hood are not given away free...

Well, c'mon: I think all of us are willing to pay a little more for a hood, but emphasis on the word little (comensurate with what it's worth). It's not worth $100, that's for sure. And a lot of us think it's bad marketing strategy by Olympus to piss people off like that on any lens, let alone a premium one.

Charge $10 more and include a nice plastic hood; it's such a simple solution.

So you are not going to buy the lens because of the lens hood? You could spend less than $10 and buy a hood from B&H.

I am with Panther on this one... my Panasonic lenses, at lower prices, include pouches and hoods. Same goes for the Pentax Limited lenses. Love my Oly lenses, but it is depressing to open the box and see nothing but some plastic wrap.

So, you want the hood for free even though the cost was included in the Panasonic price.

Sorry guys, but companies can't give away free lens hoods. If you want to have it included, then the price must reflect that. Write to Olympus and tell them how much more you are willing to spend to include the hood. Perhaps they might think about throwing in a cheap plastic hood with future lenses.

Personally, when I buy a lens, I figure that is what I am buying. Not having a hood does not bother me. The lens pouch is the most annoying thing a manufacturer can include. It is just more junk to throw out and end up in a landfill.

Believe it or not, you did pay for the lens hood and pouch. Do you know how much you would have saved if you bought only the lens?
Thanked by JohnF, pictor, ssgreenley and 2 others.

Great lens! I'd like to see full body portraits. Do you think you can clearly isolate a full body with this focal lenght or i have to buy a used 150 f2 for my serious portrait work?

It depends on how much you want to isolate it. If you want serious blur with a not extremely distant background, you'll want faster or longer (eg, 85/1.4 or 150/2). This lens will give you some isolation on full body, though.
Thanked by Steph.

Good suggestion. 135mm used to be very popular, but it has faded into relative obscurity in the last 20-30 years. The image quality certainly seems to be there with this lens, though, so maybe people will buy it and find out that the focal length works well for them.
