I live over in Fairhaven...no problems with car prowls after you get away form campus. Of course the only time I EVER had my car stolen was out of my driveway when I was in grad school at WWU.

Funny. I lived off 21st? Complex had a parking garage but the cheap asses at Apex Property Management didn't put a lock on the door accessing the garage, so my roommate had his beater Tercel stolen out of it, someone stole the component speakers out of my car (Diamond Audio). I had most of my stereo stolen while I was inside a bar for like 30-min, forgot what it was called but it was by where the Trader Joes opened up. Its been a few years though. Was glad to be out of Bellingham when I graduated :).

Got my GX1 + LVF2 yesterday (one day shipping! ) and I'm really digging it so far. It's got pluses and minuses compared with the G3 but overall I am enjoying it. I like the tactile feel of the camera - nice clicky buttons, snappy shutter, solid & weighty body. Kind of reminds me more of an upgraded improved version of my old faithful GF2 with the IQ and performance of the G3.

I had a GF1 and now have a GX1. It reminds me of my Leica CL.

I returned my Fuji X10 (never took it out of the box) to Best Buy today (Saturday). When I got back home an Amazon.com box was waiting for me on my doorstep. Inside was my new GX1. I ordered mine Thursday evening.

Why a GX1?

Hi Amin,
Now, I'm really curious why you got a GX1. It's so similar in size to the E-M5, yet doesn't have sensor based stabilization, tilting screen or integrated EVF. Why not wait a couple of weeks to see what the GX2 has to offer? The price where you are is certainly very attractive, but are there any features that the GX1 has that complement the E-M5?

GX1 Successor This Year According to Panasonic

As quoted by Amateur Photographer, in February of this year Panasonic's Ichiro Kitao stated that:
"The GF series is a step-up from compact cameras, but we want the GH and GX cameras to be seen as quality products. We will define more clearly what GH and GX means this year, so consumers have a better idea of what their characteristics are."
So if nothing has changed since then, we should see both a GH3 and a GX2 by the end of this year, both higher end models than their predecessors. I'm guessing both will be announced just prior to Photokina.

I won't speak for Amin, but my personal appeal is that smaller size still makes a difference. And there are no issues w/ the 20/1.7 on the GX1 =) If I weren't so tied to wanting an EVF, I think I would have traded my G3 for it.
