Would you be happy if there was only one car we could all drive? One variety of apple? How about one political party we could all vote for? I'm sure the Chinese government would argue that their political philosophy is "quality over quantity" and that there isn't any need for another point of view.
Whether or not you choose to contribute to or participate in other forums is your choice. Whether you feel this is a better forum than others that spring up is again your opinion and your decision.
In the country that I live in, I appreciate that choice and the ability to express my opinion. I also appreciate having the opportunity to wander the internet where I choose and to assess what I find there and come to my own decision as to what I want to view and participate in. I do this with the knowledge that not everybody in the world has the same access that I do.
We all have our personal preferences and if you are happy with this forum, thats great. If it serves your purposes, provides you with the answers that you want and you are comfortable with the people who are here, then thats great too. But to say "why is there any need for more forums?" strikes me as a strange point of view.
Why is there any need for more photographs?
Why is there any need for more books?
Why is there any need for more music?
Don't we have enough of these things already? Some might think we do.
To express an opinion as to whether one place of discussion on the internet is preferable is perfectly legitimate, but to suggest that its a good idea to narrow down the options that are available to us is not an idea that I would ever subscribe to in any way shape or form.
I have no knowledge of any other specific m4/3 forum, and like you I'm happy to spend time here and the other places that I frequent regularly during my "internet time" but I would never attempt to criticise or discourage anyone who felt the desire to explore other alternatives.
Whether the other forum is similar, has the same members or deals with the same issues is immaterial to me. If it attracts large numbers of people then it will succeed, if it doesn't it won't. To me that is the great virtue of the internet. If it offers us anything, it offers us the opportunity to create and participate in places where we can share our enthusiasms and interests with other like minded people from around the world. To say that there should be only one place where that can happen and that all other attempts to create a "community" are superfluous and imitative strikes me as somewhat odd to say the least.
