I don't have an E-PL1, but on my G3 the 14 is very quick. The 20 is the slowest focusing lens that I have and can be frustrating even in good light. I have the PL45 and that is probably my fastest focusing lens (when limit switch is on to lock out macro range), but the 14 is right behind it.

I just took Amin's advice and bought one on the auction site. The dealer shipped immediately, but it took 2 weeks for the lens to arrive. It is brand new (no box) and was very well packaged. At $160 it is quite a bargain and should be in everyone's bag (ok, maybe the Oly 12mm owners will pass).

Default A little package arrived

Wow!!! My 14mm came today from Taiwan exactly 7 days after ordering. It was buble wrapped, packed in a cardboard box, and covered with a tough green plastic wrap. I was impressed. Going to use it this weekend.

I ordered from nomohideo2005 at New Panasonic 14mm F2.5 Lumix G Lens for M4/3 SILVER *** Made In Japan *** 0885170023529 | eBay

The picture on the ebay page is wrong (shows a 20mm) but the lens is a 14mm. He also has silver ones.

You just cost me $160, Amin. I'll thank you in a couple weeks when my GF3 gains its second lens. :)

And there goes $170.. Haha! I chose a US seller instead. Hopefully mu-43.com gets some referral $.

I'm not convinced f2.5 is fast enough. We'll see though.

I've found 2.5 to be adequate for hand held because the focal length is wide, but if your subjects in motion, that gets trickier.

I purchased this on impulse based on Amin's enthusiastic post, but now I am having second thoughts.

Is there any advantage to this lens over the Olympus kit lens @14mm, other than the small size and the f/2.5 aperture setting? Looks like the kit lens has less distortion, less vignetting, slightly less CA, and is sharper too at f/3.5-f/5.6. At f/8 the 14 seems to have a slight edge in sharpness, but still has more CA/vignetting/distortion.

BTW, are Olympus bodies recognizing Panasonic lenses for applying corrections automatically or are they aware only of Olympus lenses?

I can only speak for my E-P1: it corrects for distortion with Panasonic lenses, but not chromatic aberration.
