With 2 PEN bodies, the GX-1 doesn't interest me as much as the G3, but for someone just getting into m43 who doesn't want an EVF or wants a modular option, this looks to be a really good deal.

The G3 is definitely pretty comfy for a small camera. But if you look at the lines of the GX1 (I've never owned one) it appears to have almost exactly the same contours, but perhaps with a better-textured grip. Plus the handling should be nicer with more Fn buttons.

And even though the G3 is a better value for money, I'd trade my G3 for a silver GX1 in a heartbeat, as a smaller backup/pocket cam to my OMD.

Argh! You folks cost me money. I broke down and got a G3 body for $250. The GX1 isn't that tempting since I have an E-PL5 (just too similar), but I missed having the G-style body with an EVF for long lenses. As much as I like the small size of the PENS, the G's have the best "in the hand" ergs for me. The G3 and the E-PL5 with just fit nicely in the Domke 5Xa . . .

Actually B&H had a used one for $195. With 10$ shipping for the used one and free shipping for the new one, it was a $40 difference and even I'm not that cheap. Now I have to go read all those Panasonic threads about using the G3. At least I have all the "black art" info about the G3 right here on Mu43.
