Default Summer Camp!

Every year our family goes up to a family camp in northern Minnesota with a number of other families for a week of community and fun. It's always a great opportunity to focus on my photography for a solid week with lots of people, nature, and other subjects to shoot. It was hard to pick, but I tried to pull a representative sample from the 300 or so keepers I had. Most were shot with my 3 primes P14, PL25, PL45, with emphasis on the 25. A few were shot with 14-140 or 100-300.

I stumbled into the week they were doing a staff photo shoot so I joined in the fun.

The aftermath of a pretty big storm that rolled through. The sky was just stunning for awhile.

Had a little fun with my flashlight one night.

The staff really connect with the kids

The kids get to run wild for a week and really get a sense of freedom.

Nice set Zach. Awesome clouds in #5 ...and both the pier shots are fantastic too. I would've been so tempted to ask the kid to jump in....an action shot of him in mid-flight, in the air all arms and legs would've been epic.

Thanks for sharing mate....I can't wait for a week off work to get away and back up to Victorian alpine country to just chill and take heaps of snaps.

Bring on Melbourne Cup long weekend :)
Thanked by zpierce.

Guys seriously....there are some really cool shots here and we've let this thread (and many others just like it) slip through virtually unnoticed recently, too busy cranking up the chatter arguing about what is or isn't Leica pop or which lens to buy next or which sensors images shows less noise at 500% magnification....Really ?

I have nothing against gear talk, I'm all for it in fact....but let's at least stop once in a while to show our appreciation when a member takes the time to share some images.

....isn't that why we are here after all ? ....because we love photos ??
Thanked by zpierce and jloden.

I agree - image threads get hardly any comments while gear threads get pages of discussion. I make an effort to look at every photo thread that I can and give folks some encouragement.
Thanked by zpierce.

Dock / pier :)

Thanks for the vignette suggestion, I'll have to try that!

Thanks mate, you're always there with the support for myself and others and I really appreciate it. Love looking at your shots as well. I thought maybe I bombed with too many shots but I spent all week shooting every day and in reality had a ton of great shots. It was hard to keep it to this few / many :)

I'm as guilty as anyone of getting sucked into gear threads, but I try to hit the image threads because really my gear is fine, I need the artistic inspiration!

Great shots Zach! Love the cloud and pier shots especially. Great colors and comp.

Where do you guys usually go? I had a coworker that went up for a family camp, but didn't see him in the pics (well, think his was a week or two earlier)
Thanked by zpierce.
