Farnborough 2010
This is one lousy lens when it come to photographing aircraft. It's resolution at the top end is pretty poor and focusing speed quite slow.
The workaround is to use my GF-1 not G1 as focussing seems quicker , never use less than 1/600 and try f8 if possible while adjusting the ISO.
Sports mode seems good for this sort of thing although the camera is usually left in shutter mode.

Photobucket processing doesn't do these images any favours but I can't wait to see if the new 100-300mm lens is sharper

Hello, I'm newly registered but have enjoyed posts and photos for some time now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here are some sports shots with the gf1 and the 45-200. While they aren't necessarily amazing, they show that sports photography is possible in this format. (shot in shutter speed priority, slowed to 1/60, only cropped in Aperture).

Got this lens second hand. Focus with the G1 is really slow. outside it performs ok. Contrast and color is good. Only the 200mm end is a bit soft, but when you get the subject fully framed and a good lighting it's ok. For far away portraits it is even very nice.

My wife told me there was a balloon nearby, fortunately I had the camera downstairs.

These are all wonderful images and they confirm my impression that the Panasonic 45-200 is one special lens. I love mine, especially on the G1.
