Panasonic 14-140mm f/4-5.8 Image Thread

I think this lenses doesn't get the attention it deserves (probably because of the price), but IMHO its brilliant - I love the smooth bokeh and the focal length makes a perfect walk around lens. Also contrary to what some people say I think its quite sharp even at the long end.

1. This ones really just to show the bokeh of this lens



2. a second try at the first picture - I came back later when the sun wasn't as bright and changed the angle so the background wasn't as noticeable - it seemed too distracting



3. This one's at full telephoto, I got bored and made water drip into the sink lol if you look closely at the drop of water closest to the top and the one in the middle, in the larger version (click on the image and see my flickr), you can see other drops reflected in it - kind of shows how sharp the lens IMO

I am impressed by photo's posted here with this zoom lens, but am curious how it would hold out on portrait applications, anybody?

I really love this lens. Some times it's just great to walk around and not have to change lenses. Of course, I wouldnt mind if it were a little faster....

A few weeks ago I was visiting friends and the 10-year old was really interested in my GH1 with the 14-140mm on it. I held my breath for a moment, gave it to him and he ran off into the garden. Unfortunately, he is such a nice kid that he started deleting most of his pictures again before I could stop him - he didn't want to clutter my camera. One of the few that were left was this one. I would have loved to see the rest he took...

Hand held, no close up lens, no ETC, just cropped.

A coworker of mine brought his RC truck to work today. We took it out to a park and boy this thing can move. Top speed is somewhere between 50-60mph depending on the surface conditions.

I grabbed my G2 and put the 14-140mm lens on there and put it into Continuous focus mode. I was amazed at the keeper rate I got. The biggest problem I had was keeping up with the car through the viewfinder, but I quickly learned to anticipate it.

Here are some of the better shots from that:











The focus was lightning quick and very sharp when I aimed it correctly. The main draw back was shutter speed (with live view on) and the inherent shutter lag. Plus once you fire off that first shot, you are now pretty much blind as to looking through the viewfinder. I'm not sure if it's any better using the LCD screen.
