Bhupinder, with all due respect: you must wear clothes with extremely large pockets. NO WAY any MFT camera with a lens attached would fit in a pocket of anything I wear, except perhaps in a jacket for the handful of winter days we have here in Texas. Of course, I wouldn't put a precision piece of equipment in a pocket anyway, so the point for me is moot.
"Much better" what?? Image quality? That's an important consideration - but not the only one. Overall usability and fit for purpose are aspects that are important as well. A MFT with a 20 mm lens is NOT fit for all the situations I envision for a compact. So we'll agree to disagree
(p.s. I have an E-PM1 and several small lenses, so I'm not anti-MFT; I just find the the MFT option to be too large for spontaneous situations, and the iPhone to be inadequate as a credible compact.)

Lol..I saw mate , u have seven MFT bodies and no way u are anti -MFT ..lol
I agree sometimes u wish to carry highly pocketable camera , a more slim and easy to carry but nice IQ and SONY RX100 seems to be a well balanced product but it won't kill MFT . Its often cold in Melbourne and we carry a light jacket and my EPL2 fits in , otherwise I don't have a problem in carrying it .
Cheers

It's magical. I've tried to spoof it by doing some crazy stuff and it takes it in stride. Commenting on a camera with HTW without utilizing that mode is drastically understating that camera's low light performance.

The RX100 takes this even further. You still have the Twilight mode with auto ISO but now you also have the Multi-Frame Noise Reduction setting that can be turned on at any time with full ISO control. This takes it to a whole new level.

Man, all we need is a RX100 is better than m4/3 thread.
Oh, and camels are way better than penguins!

In what way do you feel camels are better?? NO WAY I could fit a camel in a pocket; on the other hand, a small penguin.... ;-)

If your camera takes great images, a new camera release will not change that.
Just sayin'...

In my case:
If my camera takes bad images, a new camera release will not change that.

My little camera that nicely fits in my pocket takes nice pictures nearly as good as your MFT and my video might even be better then.
Many people - myself included are looking for a truly small form factor camera that honestly fits in your pocket (not like the EPM1) like the S95/S100 but doesn't compromise IQ like the S100 and has decent focal range. The RX100 is probably the 1st real option for those individuals.
The mini was close.. real close but just a bit too wide due to the MFT lens to sensor distance spec and no pancake thin enough. The 1" sensors allow for a true compact to be developed and Sony may have just hit a home run in that respect by making it a fix lens, collapsing lens but still fast at 1.8
I'm looking forward to the RX100 with the same hope that the annoucements of the X100 & OM-D and with the off chance Sigma gets the DP2 right this time as the Merrill variant live up to the hype. The S95-S100 sensor was simply not good enough.. but the RX100 could very well be.
Nice kit if you were to have an RX100 and OM-D (or future PEN if they use the same sensor as the OM-D).

I was always eyeing a Sigma DP2s but with too many short comings to be my only body. Finally treated myself to proper camera. An Olympus EP-2 with a kit lens. 20mm/1.7 soon to be had, and the addition of a legacy zoom. May still get a used DP2s for landscape photography.. just something about that Fovean look. If anyone has a PS action replicate it, please let me know.
