This definitely looks like what I have been hoping for, though I am not in the market for awhile. It looks like aperture control may be on the lens, which would be really fantastic. The big question for me (besides whether the handling will live up to the specs) is if it offers any kind of manual focus assist. Focus peaking or a rangefinder-esque system is something I would really, really like to have.
Fuji's lens strategy certainly makes the other players in the mirrorless game look a little silly. M43 is well established, but it took a long time to get a solid set of fast primes. Sony E-mount is still not there, nor is Samsung. I am really curious to see their long-term strategy. Technically, they should still be able to use zooms and telephotos with the EVF portion of the hybrid VF, right?
I am very interested to see the new Olympus camera. If the rumors are true, it seems like it will be going toe-to-toe with this and the NEX-7. One things is for sure, 2012 looks to be a very big year for Compact System Cameras, which is good for all of us!

For me, a lot will depend on exactly how the camera feels in my hands and how large it is with the lenses mounted. From the pictures, it looks pretty big (for my needs).
EDIT: What I am trying to say is that this camera/system look like a real winner but perhaps not for the bulk of MFT users. It probably will take away a lot of the market for the Sony NEX-7.

My first thought was "wow! There goes my EPM1" but I agree with you. I think it's pretty large, so neck strap, not a pocket cam. Looks closer to M9, not EP3 size. It also looks to be Contax-like, in that it'll support 3 primes, not "any lens" and no adapted lenses (just speculation, but thinking about the hybrid VF here and the very short flange-back distance). It's also not likely to support anything inside 18mm or outside 60mm, and likely no zooms. Again, just guess work, but given the hybrid VF with the OVF that adjusts for which lens you are using, the lenses are likely communicating with the body. The flange-back distance also probably means special micro-lenses optimized for these 3 lenses, which reportedly protrude into the body.
It's a specialist camera, I think. We'll find out, I'm sure, as more is revealed.

I am this close to selling my E-P3 and buying an E-PM1 (for my Oly 45/1.8) and GF3 (for my Pana 14/2.5). That would give me two pocketable cameras and the Panasonic software correction for my 14/2.5. If I could wave a wand and make it happen, I would. Only thing holding me back is the hassle of selling and buying.

I will have to test my EPM1 + 25/1.4 vs. the Fuji with the 35mm. The EPM1 size, I gaurantee, will blow it away. Probably also, too, it's shot to shot speed and write speeds (based on X100 from what I have heard). If Oly could get a newer sensor in the EPM2, maybe a change wouldn't be needed. I still want a Pen body with a built-in EVF, though.

I too was initially excited for this camera but having put more thought into it, I'm much more excited insofar as the anticipated flood of newish goodies that might flood the classifieds.

Looking at the viewfinder and the back of the camera from earlier shots, it's looks just about the same size as the X100

I remember you sold your E-PM1
What made you change your mind about wanting it back?

I love the looks and feel of my E-P3. If it were just me using the camera, I wouldn't trade it for anything. However, these days I usually throw the E-P3 in my jacket pocket when I'm headed out the door, and the E-PM1 was just easier to throw in the pocket. It's that whole "best camera is the one you have with you" thing.

If my understanding of the hybrid VF in the X100 is correct, it will not be a limitation to lens selection at all. When used with a prime lens of the correct focal length (say, the three at launch), you can use the optical VF or electronic VF. Now, lets say you throw on a legacy 300mm or a zoom lens, whether X-mount or legacy. You SHOULD still be able to use the electronic VF. Take a look at this link to see the explanation I am working off of: Fujifilm explains how its X100 hybrid viewfinder works, we nod and pretend to understand -- Engadget
I have been lusting after the Leica M9 and hoping that the used market price would drop once they announce a new M, but this looks like a real contender. I occasionally use AF and a 270mm (equivalent) lens, which this camera could (potentially) do, while the M9 never will.
One thing is for sure, nobody can accuse Fuji of putting out same-old same-old rehash cameras.

Dont do it Amin! The feel and usability of the P3 is MUCH better than the PM1 (IMO)...But I am sure you know this already ;)
