Default Damn camera lust, it seems I'm buying NEX

I resisted the E-M5 will all my strentgh (and was reasonable enough not to buy since I hate the Oly user interface), but NEX got the better of me, it seems I'm in the process of getting a 5N + kit lens...
This APS-C goodness is more than I can NOT lust after ;) I'll most likely get the Sigma 30/2.8 for it, and use my FD 50/1.8 adapted, as well.

I know there is NOTHING as stupid as buying a camera 3 weeks short of Photokina, but I'm able to get a really good deal on the combo, which is hardly used with a long warranty remainder, so I hope to avoid the worst of buyer remorse when the NEX6 (which is what I really want) is announced.

Do you know what it's going to be, then?

Hey... it's just cameras and lenses... no reason why you shouldn't try out different ones.

There certainly is a 'look' associated with FF (which I love), and perhaps with APSC as well - vs. m4/3.

In the end, you can always sell off the no-longer-wanted gear and usher in the new.

Let us know how you like the NEX! Someday... s o m e day, there should be a nice range of great lenses for the NEX system. When that day comes, I may be joining you.

I've used all the Nex bodies and currently keep a Nex 3 around for testing out e mount lenses for sale. It would be really nice if focus peaking (or some variant thereof) would come to a Panasonic or Olympus body. Sony just beats the crap out of the m43 for the total experience with manual focusing....it's not even close.

However, Sony seems content to develop new bodies and sell sensors (very nice sensors) than develop e-mount lenses. The Nex-5N is very nice, on par with the best 16mm sensor bodies for m43. Enjoy!

BTW, there are deals to be had on the EVF (which is really nice) for the 5N. Used ones on some of the boards are running from $200-$250...$100 cheaper than 6-8 months ago.

I have mixed feelings about the NEX. I have the Sigma 30 and it's pretty nice (albeit slow to AF) but I don't find the NEX+Sigma to be as engaging camera to use in AF as it is in MF. Put a manual focus lens on it and it really transforms the NEX into something special. If I didn't know better I'd say they designed the NEX specifically for manual focus lenses.

Lol.. I think all MFT users will end up with NEx as second camera. I am also thinking of picking up NEX 5N with 16 mm . It's interesting that for price of PL25 , I could have bought it.its fun to try different cameras ?
Cheers

Gotta give the NEX it's due...it's an interesting camera with great IQ and wonderful handling of legacy glass. With my Konica 24 or Pen-F 38 attached the NEX really reminds me a lot of the way I felt shooting my compact RF cameras...the basics for controls, easy to get to everything you need, great glass and a nice simple way to focus. It may not be what Sony intended but I think it's absolutely brilliant what they ended up with.
