Anybody with olive-green Pentax K-x? Sigma 50-150 vs Pentax 50-135
I am considering the Pentax K-x with upgraded 2 lens kit and also "have" to decide on the color. Anybody has an olive-green one?
Oh, I am thinking about the a 17/18-50 mm F2.8 lens icw Sigma 50-150 mm F2.8 or Pentax 50-135 mm F2.8. Would that be a good match?

I had the white one, I liked it alot (recently got a K7 though). The Kx is a great little camera. The new olive green they have made available in the US is a nice looking option!
I have read many good things about the tamron 17-50mm, not as much about the sigma 18-50mm - the extra mm on the wide end can make quite a difference.
I have the 50-135mm and love it. Outstanding images come out of that lens through no fault of my own! If you never think you'll upgrade to a weather-sealed body and the 50-150mm sigma is cheaper, that is a very well regarded alternative to the 50-135mm as well. Good luck with your choice!

Yeah, I am leaning more and more towards:
- K-x, Olive-green
- Tamron 17-50 mm F2.8
- Sigma 50-150 mm F2.8
But then I forgot about the Tamron 28-75 mm F2.8. In my SLR time I used to have 28-90 + 75-300. But when I bought the 28-200 (to minimize swapping lenses) I stopped using the 75-300...
- The 50-150 equivalents actually equal the 75-300.
- On the other hand the 28-75 is not much longer than the 17-50, so probably not long enough, but also much cheaper (a little lighter) and maybe still very handy range (especially for the time that my kids don't run away that far yet).
- I could also go for the Sigma 17-70 mm F2.8-4 OS HSM to extend my reach on that side (but then I sacrifice aperture on that range...)
Guess I just have to try check out the focal lenghts to make up my mind

If the olive speaks to you, then go for it. I like the purple.
It's funny, I wound up with a GF-1 (and thus here), but I think I mis-remembered what I had originally decided on: I think I'd planned on a K-x in navy or red. That the Panasonic G-2 was available in both helped the confusion, and when I found the GF-1 was available in a nice pink, that was that.
I prefer equipment that doesn't look like everyone else's.

I didn't have time to go to the shop to day, is the olive green also shiny / metal looking?
- The pictures at pentax . com are a little disappointing to me

Some of the K-x colors are matte, while others are semi-glossy, and yet others are speckled shiny! It does look as though the Olive is a matte finish.
The 50-150mm is only going to be 75-225mm equivalent, not 75-300mm. for APS-C sensors the crop factor is only 1.5x. If you decide to get the Tamron 28-75mm remember you'll be missing out on wide angle, as that is essentially a 42-110mm lens. Some people like the range, but on digital I think most find it limiting. Have you considered the pentax 16-45mm, or 17-70mm? I had the former, now have the latter, they are both sharp at f4 (the 16-45 moreso) and are very nice lenses in their own right. The 16-45 I believe is discontinued so you'll have to find it used; they regularly go for around $250 USD used, which is a steal in my book.

Hmm, non-shining olive-green is NOK
If I would go for 28-75 then it would be next to 17/18-45/60/70 lens.
But I am leaning towards 17-50 mm F2.8 + 50-130/150 F2.8.
- and later replace my father's manual focus 50 mm F2.0 by a auto focus F1.4 to fill the "gap"

Personally I would skip the 28-75mm. It worked well on full-frame, but 42-110mm equivalent is straight out of the worst point and shoots from 5 years ago - it is just not a good range for aps-c. Looks like you're getting plenty of help over at pentax forums, so I will leave it to my friends over there from here on out. Good luck with your choices!

Thanks
FYI: My current view next to K-x
- Pentax 16-45 F2.8 vs Tamron 17-50 F2.8 vs Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.0
and in the tele range
- Pentax 50-135 F2.8 vs Sigma 50-150 F2.8
To be exented later by for example one of these (depending on my feelings):
- Pentax/Tamron 18-250
- Sigma 50 F1.4
- Tamron/Sigma 70-200 F2.8
- Another prime lens 30-40 or > 100

Outside Japan you can only get 4 color?
- B&H showed Black, White, Red and Navy Blue
Guess in Japan colors are more hot.
- At Big Camera in Nagoya they didn't have that many colors on display
But look here:
Japanese PENTAX K-x commercial - HAVE TO SEE!!!
After the 20 year young lady you can see the olive green camera dancing.
Wait the 38 year old guy hold a olive green one, that is mine!!!
Add-on: The on the left top you can select your colors
