Here's my two cents: Since you mention that you have Lightroom (not sure which version), that's the best place to do image-wide adjustments. Like a previous poster said, he does 95% of his work in LR, and that tracks with my experiences. I often don't need to go beyond it. If you're looking for a small list of things in PS to hone in on, learn layers, selections, and the basic pixel-level tools like cloning and healing. These are much of the strength of PS.
If you get a chance to go to a NAPP/Scott Kelby seminar, take it. You'll learn a lot, even in one day.
