Yeah, just the body. Got a nice deal and I thought that I'll just get the 20/1.7 separately, it couldn't be that hard to find, could it?
Well it's been a long couple of weeks now..

Keep your eyes peeled down in the Classified section here. I believe there may be one for sale now, I can't remember for sure. Be sure to read the sticky at the top of the forum Member Buy, Sell & Trade. It is a great lens but sometimes people want to sell theirs for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with the lens itself.

Might be a little late for that particular lens, but I'll keep an eye on there.

Hi
I'm Mike from the Cotswolds U.K.
I took the micro 4/3 plunge 10 days ago and bought a GF1 with 20mm lens . I have to say, what i read here and the users images I saw on this forum helped me decide which kit to go for.
I have never owned any SLR , DSLR or multi lens system of any kind in the past , so I come straight from point and shoot and have a lot of learning to do.
I read so much praise all over the net for the 20 mm lens so I had to find out what all the fuss is about. I'm loving it so far despite feeling strange not having a zoom of any kind for the first time. I was thinking of saving for the 14 -45 lens next ? but am having plenty of fun finding my way around the manual settings with the 20mm so far.
I went for the Panasonic over the EPL1 mainly for brand loyalty ( I've been happily snapping with a Panasonic DMC-TZ6 for a couple of years) plus I couldn't find a local store that stocked Olympus gear for a demo. The GF1 seem like the perfect size for walking etc.
I like general photography to document my travel and family but also like to photograph British wild Orchids which are tiny so the small camera will hopefully help.
thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the forum, a G1 and GF1 user here.
You might find that you want a macro lens for your orchids, I've been using a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG macro for insect work, but for flowers you would probably find something in the 50mm - 55mm range suitable, such as the micro Nikkor 55mm f/2.8. The Leica DG macro Elmarit is a beautiful lens but rather pricey, and for macro work manual focus is ideal, thus legacy lenses with a suitable adapter fit the bill nicely.
Whatever, enjoy your GF1, with voigtlander legacy lenses it takes me back to my Leica M3 days in some respects.

Hi Barrie
thanks for the advice , luckily I have till May when the orchids start popping up again to track down a macro lens . Manual focus was one of the things missing from the old camera ,so although I could get shots I was happy with to catalogue the orchids, I sometimes had to take 100 to get one decent shot in focus . That was one of the reasons I decided to upgrade. Given I''m a total beginner I'm picking up whole load of tips from just reading this forum and looking at other people shots. I have a million questions but I figure I'll answer plenty of them myself by getting to know the camera a bit more.
cheers
Mike

Hi from fife, scotland
I was an Olympus 4/3 user but sold it all to fund the move into Micro 4/3.
My kit is the Oly EPL1, 9-18, Pany 14-45 & the 20mm, FL20 and FL-36 flashes, already had the flashes.
Just waiting on the new 40-150 zoom coming out the end of october.
The IQ of the EPL1 and the Pany 20mm is excellent, it is a brilliant little lens only 100grams.
It's great to have all my camera gear that i need for a days shooting and only at 2.5kg including bag, this m4/3 stuff is for me, my shoulders and back just love it.
My M4/3 gear would be perfect if they released 100mm macro lens.
Cheers Ken

Hello, everyone,
I am Qiang from Kansas City, US. Currently I am using an Olympus EP-1 with the two kit lenses. Although I am using my Pentax system ofen, EP-1 is really an amazing camera to me and better than just a backup camera. I am glad I can use most of my old pentax lenses through adaptor on this.
This is a great forum and I think I will enjoy the be a one of you.
Again, nice to meet you all.
Qiang

Hey everyone! I'm Paul from Singapore. I just bought my Olympus PEN E-P1 yesterday! I was a Canon user, still is actually, but now I'm also an Olympus user. I started photography about 4 years back when my wife encouraged me to get my very first DSLR, Canon 350D. Well, when your wife says go get it, you better get it! I bought over a second-hand Canon 40D early this year.
When the E-P1 first came out, I was drawn to its very stylish and elegant design, but did not have reason to buy it. Just recently, my wife, once more asked if I want to get the Canon 7D! Wow! How often do you get that, right? So I started doing some research and also asked myself, "Why do I want the 7D?" Other than the movie recording, I thought my 40D was still doing fine. Then I remembered the E-P1 and showed it to my wife. She liked the design. We went to a store yesterday, talked to the sales people and I finally sealed the deal! Once again, at the encouragement of my wife!
I got the 17mm lens, 14-150mm lens, flash unit, optical view finder and a whole lot more freebies for quite a good price.
I do hope to learn more about the four-thirds stuff from you people out there.
Cheers!
paul
