I find it interesting that this company that makes the beautiful handmade cases is also selling those same Olympus products you are getting Chow Monkey: http://www.japanexposures.com/shop/p...roducts_id=315 They're acting as the middle man.

I know! I was wondering how their prices compared. Also it seems to me that there are little metal feet on the bottom of the body case, so perhaps it will be able to rest on them and the screw mount won't get in the way.

I think it's rather expensive for a fashion item. The case is around 60 euro as is the strap. So 120 euro total for the set.
Imagine the leather E-P1 bag I bought was only 35 euro. So these prices are just made up by someone in the Olympus office..

[QUOTE=BBW;5255]Neither, the one sold by pixlamb (coming from the UK) that Brian posted about with a link to someone's comment on dpreview... Here it is on eBay[URL="http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?

I posted the link to the pixlamb case, which Brian forwarded here.

I've taken 3 images and posted them here to show how my case fits the camera with 20mm lens fitted.

What exactly is the problem with yours not fitting?

Thank you David, and welcome to the home of m4/3rds... I'm glad you found us here!

That's a beautiful illustration by the way, thanks for doing it for us.

Can you comment on the quality of the case and strap? what kind of leather is used? how does it feel?

Do the straps fix to the case, or to the camera?

Cheers

Brian

[QUOTE=Brian Mosley;5320]Thank you David, and welcome to the home of m4/3rds... I'm glad you found us here!

Thank You.

Since I was the one who recommended it, I thought I would show how it fits.
I hope that the company aren't selling different sized cases, some of which fit the 20mm and some of which don't. I did do some measuring before buying it. The 20mm is slightly longer than the 17mm, but my case fits perfectly. I did the pictures as the easiest way to put it on the camera is the way I've indicated, i.e. placing it over the lens first. Taking it off you need to undo the two bottom fasteners and the magnetic fastener & then it comes off easily. Lets hope this solves the problem for BBW and that there isn't a problem with the case.

Can you comment on the quality of the case and strap? what kind of leather is used? how does it feel?

Mine is very good quality, lovely soft leather. The stitching is well done and it feels "expensive". I took a chance ordering it, as I could find no info. anywhere, nor any feedback from users. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Its very useful for transporting the camera & saves me taking out a large bag. Its a very good fit with the camera inside it & I can detect no movement of the camera inside it. Obviously with leather there will be some "give" with age.
The half case gives some protection when I'm using the camera, the screen is still exposed, but its better than nothing. It also gives something else to grip onto. I do a lot of photography of cycle trails, including the High Peak and Tissington, which I imagine you know well, so I wanted something that I could use to protect the camera on a bike. I haven't tried that out yet as I'm waiting for the snow to go.

Do the straps fix to the case, or to the camera?

You can do both. I've got mine fitted to the case and I've removed the strap lugs from the camera. It feels better balanced that way. Getting the SD card out or changing the battery requires removing the screw, but thats easy and quick.

Thanks so much David, but besides the rather unusual way of the cover attaching, it just does not fit. I tried putting it on the way you said and as many other ways as I thought possible - but no way. It must be a lack of quality control unless they make the lens different over in the UK? Just kidding. But seriously, even with a miniature shoe horn you couldn't fit this case that I received onto the camera.

I've packed it up and will send it off today and hope that I won't have any problems with my refund.

For now, my camera's body will remain unclothed.

Thanks again, David and welcome to , too. I look forward to seeing you and your photographs around here!

P.S. Thanks Chow for your feedback on the Olympus strap - that they won't sell us over here - and the price comparisons.

Thats not good. I was concerned whether it would fit when I ordered it, but was pleased when it did.
Its a shame that there isn't any consistency here, as otherwise it seems well made.
You have my sympathies, its very disappointing when something you look forward to using doesn't work.
Thank you for the welcome. Didn't know of your existence until Brian pointed me this way. But I'm glad he did.

Best Wishes
