Default Lens Hoods For micro 4/3 Lenses

Yesterday my lens hoods came in from overseas. I was very pleased with them both - one ordered from one company on ebay for my 14-42 kit lens ($7.99 including free shipping to Canada) - and the other from a separate company on ebay for my 40-150 lens ($11.95 including free shipping to Canada).

I really like the look of the square hood design with the 14-42 product

As well, the 40-150 hood is nice and long for protecting the front elements from lens flare

Thumbs up Lens hood

Hi Rob, nice hoods! where did you get the square lens hood from? Which seller from ebay?

Cheers,
J.

I was a little surprised that hoods weren't included when I purcahsed the lenses. But that seems to be Olympus' way. Canadian prices are $37.95 and $59.95 plus taxes adn shipping - - - so I am quite pleased with my just under $20 delivered right to my door.

Cool, I think I have the same or a similar 40-150mm hood from ebay in the mail. Hopefully it will work well without any vignetting.

The JJC hoods are fine. I have them for the 40-150, O45 and 9-18. Enjoyyourcamera here in Germany has them in stock. No connection with either company ...

Do you think that square hood would work with the panny 20mm, or would it be better picking up one of those vented designs?

The square hood is not compatible with the 20mm. There is a specific thread on the outside barrel on the lens for the square hood to fit.

The vented hood is more popular because it goes onto the filter thread of the lens, and thus is compatible with all lenses of the same diameter.
Thanked by Ritualnet.

I may have misinterpretted what you are saying - and if so, I aplogize. Both of the Lens Hoods that I received are Bayonet Mount and not Thread mounted. But I have no idea if they would fit any other lenses like Panasonic.

Default Lens hood for OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 II R
QUOTE]

I have a hood that is a JJC brand model LH-J40 which is to replace the LH-40 hood, but it does does not fit my OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 II R lens. Is there some sort of way of making the hood fit that I am not familiar with?
