I'm sure many people have the 600R by now because they seem pretty readily available at local camera stores (at least in Southern California).

I got mine with the grip and some extra batteries for my OMD a few weeks ago. I was using the FL36R and the small Panasonic FL220 before getting the 600R.

I was basically looking to replace my FL36R with the 600R for the faster recycle time. On that front, the 600R delivers. I have not done extensive recycle time testing but the 600R has not kept me waiting nearly as much.

I have not tried the RC yet (coming from Pany body this is a new feature for me on the OMD). But I plan to use the tiny OMD flash to trigger both the FL36 and 600R off camera. I'll be limited to the recycle time of the 36R but it seems a good compromise for that much light.

Only "complaint" so far is the 600R automatically uses it's "video light" for AF assist lamp. That blinds subjects and is a bit distracting so I'll have to find out how to toggle that off when shooting people and it is not absolutely needed (never missed it before so I don't think I'll mind having it toggled off).

Other than that, solid flash. Best compromise between size, power, and recycle time that I have found for m43.

On the B&H listing specs, it says "4x AA", and there's a youtube unboxing video which shows the battery compartment @2:20:

I'm interested in led lights power supply
about it too. Sounds like it may basically be a 4 battery version of the FL-36, and with an LED Modules for AF assist and video. 4 battery means a little bigger but should have a better recharge time, which is a weakness of the FL-36.

It seems like the square led light and spare batteries were put on the back burner to fulfill orders for the OM-D, not many out yet.

I may have bought the first fake one or an unusually bad batch. Anybody can confirm the proper orientation of the MODE & ZOOM buttons? Have seen pictures posted showing differently.

The FL-600R

On my FL-600 MODE OK and ZOOM and the icons are all parallel to the bottom edge of the flash.

seismicshift, just got mine from Cameta camera today, and it looks identical to yours, where the MODE/ZOOM botton is slightly off in an angle...

Worst part is not sure whether I have the the setting wrong or if it's defected. The Flash will only fire when I pressed TEST/CHARGE, but would not trigger when attached onto my OM-D. Maybe someone can point to me what I may have been doing that is wrong. :(

Push it in all the way... I was having that issue and someone pointed out that the flash needs to be seated properly...
Thanked by LoNePeAcE.

I have it pushed in all the way in, but it still won't fire.... I am guessing there is something not working quite right in between the connection of the body and the flash.... guess I will have to contact Olympus on Monday to see if I can send it back for repair... :(

Does this flash sync higher than 1/160?
