Also had this concern. How long is the strap? Is it so short that it needs to ride high when worn across chest?

I am of medium height (5`9") and there are about 6" of belt left when carrying it across and low around the waist. See close-up of bag.

Very cool! When I saw the bag the it seemed like the bag might ride funny hanging from shoulder, but I figured it probably wouldn't affect the ride that much. Presumably you found it was a problem? Only reason I'd be tempted to not relocate the attachment is to retain the waist-carry mode.

It was kind of funny hanging from the shoulder, as any waist pack would do. The straps attached from the side do this, invariably. It doesnt bother if the bag is worn as shown on the website of Millican: high on the back, meesenger-style. I like that kind of carrying for my bigger messenger bags, but not for a small one like this.

Useful to know, thanks.

I can imagine how good you feel!
Yes, it worked out quite nice

I decided to take a shot with the Tamrac 3440. Delivered next day from Philly Photo Supply for <$30 via best offer on ebay. Glad I did, it is just about perfect, in that the E-M5 w/14-150 mounted barely fits with room for 25/1.4 or 45/1.8.

Here are some pics:

This is with 12-50 mounted, and 25/1.4 loose. No option but the "lens down" approach. Bag is too tight to place the camera in sideways, and even in you could you'd lose the ability to easily carry a second lens.

This shows the 25/1.4, and unzipped front pocket showing Blackberry and extra battery fitting nicely.

Closed bag with everything inside. Summilux box for size comparison.

Nothing much negative to say about this. Pretty much the smallest a bag can be and still do what I want it to do. I can also sub in the GF3 + 14/2.5 for the extra lens. Basic strap with no padding, but for this mini-kit approach that should be OK.
Thanked by mclarenf3, dre_tech, BigTam and 1 others.

Thanks for the post! I just picked one up at my local camera shop, my Retrospective 7 is kinda big for when I only want the E-M5 with a lens on it and maybe another prime.

If you remove the divider you could carry the camera sideways, but you'd either need a pouch for a Panasonic pancake or go reattach the divider horizontally and place the little lens under the divider.

Seeing that this is the bag thread... I currently have a Domke F-5xb that I love, but sometimes wish I had a bit more room. I'm looking at a TT Retrospective 5 because I don't want something too much bigger.

The main thing I want is to be able to place two lenses side by side in the bag. A simple ASCII diagram is below where the '0's represent lenses and the '-' are the front and back of the bag. C is where the camera would go.

------
0|C|0
0|C|0

I want to be able to put the OMD in the center portion of the bag with something attached. On one end I'd like to have an Oly 14-150mm with a Oly 45mm next to it (in same partition). On the other end I'd like to have a flash (Nissin Di466 for now) and another lens next to it. Does anyone have the bag and think this will work? With the F-5xb now, I can only put 1 lens OR flash in each of the end partitions.

Former TT Retro 5 owner here. From memory, I'm pretty sure that works, but you will likely need to place camera with lens facing down, unless something like the 14/2.5 or 20/1.7 will be attached.

I use the Retro 5, it's got enough room that I can fit the following:

Left: 7-14mm
Center: 12mm, 45mm (separated with partitions) GX1 + 14-140mm (nose down)
Right: 100-300mm

If you really get creative, I've also found if I lay the 7-14mm on its side and add another padded partition on top of it, I can actually fit another lens on top of it.

Since the 100-300 is the largest m4/3 lens I know if, that means you can fit pretty much any native lens on the two sides with the camera and at least one lens pointed down in the center.

I don't think you can fit the 14-150 AND the 45mm in the same partition sitting next to each other, unless the 14-150 is a lot skinnier than I realize. The only lenses I can fit in the same partition together are the small primes. You could however easily do what I do; put the 45mm in the center, cover it with a pad/partition, and then put the camera nose-down on top of that with another lens attached. Then your flash could be on one side and the 14-150 on the other.
Thanked by jon595.

I have a Domke F10. The main compartment is about the same size as the F-5xb, maybe an inch taller, but is does have a massive front dump pocket and a pocket inside the flap.
Here's my review of it on P68 on this thread.
Bags and more bags
