That's interesting u feel u want to go smaller

If I had to go even smaller than the f5xb then I'd just carry the camera with one lens in hand and use a neoprene cover.

I just got the f5xb for $62 via amazon warehouse (slightly marred) and I thought it was really tiny in person!

That said after using it its perfect for 2-3 lens plus camera and some filters.

This is a great bag on the go.

The velco is loud though!

I'd like a tad larger one for my backpacking trip though so I can have my iPad on hand.

Hi demiro,

How about a Lowepro Apex 110 AW? It's slightly cheaper than the Tamrac Rally Micro (3440) but approximately the same size. It's also slightly deeper and taller than the Tamrac that it'd fit the E-M5 + 14-150 facing down.

Interior dimensions:
Tamrac Rally Micro 3440 : 17 x 8 x 13
Lowepro Apex 110 AW: 15 x 10 x 14

I have my current kit in this bag, although I can't leave the zooms mounted unless I take out one of them. The 14mm pancake is stuffed in the front, which isn't the best place but it fits.

If I only carried the 14-150mm, 14mm and 25mm this bag would be perfect. Any of the lenses can be mounted. Mounted with the 14-150mm the camera would have to face down. Mounted with the 14mm or the 25mm the camera can be on its side.

For size reference, the 12-50mm is about the same height as the 14-150mm retracted. This bag works for me because the 12-50mm only leaves the house if the weather is poor outside.
Thanked by demiro.

I have a larger bag than the Domke for "normal" use, whatever that is, and I have a little holster bag that works for just the camera with zoom attached, but I often find myself wanting to have the zoom + the 45/1.8.

I have carried the camera and put the extra lens in my pocket, but between cell phone, wallet, car keys, etc. that gets to be a little much.

The Apex 110 looks promising. I will definitely take a harder look at that. Thanks.

Most of us find bags the best for daily use when we don't need a lot of gear at hand.

There are times, though, especially for commercial pros, where taking a large array of lenses and bodies in a durable case is needed.

For times when I want to take most of my m4/3 system, I drop a Pelican 1505 padded insert tray into a Halliburton 5" Silver Premier Attache. (Using a Pelican 1500 is an excellent, lower-cost, option as well.)

This padded adjustable tray holds three m4/3 bodies and about 12 to 13 lenses.

The Halliburton 5" Silver Premier Attache is 5" interior depth; the 103 model has 6" depth, and no accordion slots that an attache has, for a little more breathing room.

I lay a foam sheet over the insert tray to protect the top of the gear before closing the case.

Thanked by phigmov and whatisinthebag.

Don, seems liked the padded inside lid of the cheaper Pelican case would be more friendly to your gear. No issues with those camera bodies bouncing around a bit?

Demiro... yes. The convoluted foam inside lid of the Pelican 1500 comes as part of the padded divider set, when bought separately, so I have it and use it in both the Sterilite and in the 6" Halliburton 103 case. You can see a bit of it next to the Sterilite case.

I store the gear in the Sterilite case while it is resident at home and in my motorhome. Then pull individual pieces from it as needed for any given outing.

When I want to take everything in the divider set, I pull it out of the Sterilite latch box and drop it into a Halliburton for light duty travel or Pelican 1500 for heavy duty travel.

When using the Halliburton 5" Attache, I use a 1/2" foam sheet on top of the gear, between the gear and the accordian compartment. This provides good cushion for normal handling.

I also have a Halliburton 103, which s the same dimension as the Attache except has a 6" high interior and the Pelican convoluted foam lid piece fits wonderfully there, providing the same interior as the Pelican 1504, but lighter weight, though less heavy-duty.

The Pelican 1500/1504 is a great approach as well. If I were going to situations where the case would be taking a bit of rough handling and maximum protection is needed, I'd use the Pelican 1500 case rather than the Halliburton. The Pelican 1505 padded divider set fits into all four cases at my disposal: Sterilite Latch Box, Halliburton 5" Attache, Halliburton 6" 103, and Pelican 1500.

The least expensive approach, for sure, and the most durable, is to buy the Pelican 1504 Case with Padded Dividers $139.28 from B&H. Then use the liner in other cases, if one desires.

If you don't need the Pelican 1500 case and just want to use the Pelican padded divider set, you can buy the set separately from the Pelican case, then put it into what ever cases you wish, depending on need.

I happen to like to use Halliburtons, when the duty isn't going to be rough. But that's a luxury, as Halliburtons are not inexpensive. However, I found both of my Halliburtons on eBay and paid a small fraction for them vs. new. And they were in near-new condition, with Halliburton's lifetime warranty.

The Tamrac 3440 looks like would work, but I'm hoping for some other recs, keeping the bag as small as possible, and < $100.

from Amazon:

Thanks!
Might wanna check out the Domke 5xa, which is very similar to the 5xb except it has one internal partition rather than two. I can get a G3 or GX1 with 14-42 and a pancake on one side, and a telephoto on the other... also has a couplea small pockets that will fit a couple batteries and a memory card wallet... that's about it... which is what I was looking for. Essentially it looks like a case that would fit a mid size par of binoculars.

I went for the olive...

@macfish: I love the look of the Millican. Did you consider the smaller Stephen? Looks ideal for camera/lens + lens. Looks like it might be tough to wear it as a shoulder bar though.

Currently the 12-50. 14-150 is due to arrive on Thursday. It would be one of them + the 45/1.8 (most likely).
