Default Turkey vulture

At my house today when I saw these big birds flying around and got close enough to get a couple of pics of this unsavory looking character.

As a side note, my dog flipped out when one of these birds flew a little too close to her and jerked the leash right out of my hand. I was shooting these one handed as the other hand had her leash. I had to put my camera down in the weeds so I could climb over about four fences that she just ran through like it was nothing. I finally caught her and retrieved my camera after the chase. So I guess she was chasing the vulture and I was chasing the dog.

Know them well - and although I don't particularly find them attractive I guess they do what needs to be done. Just found this Vulture Society site. http://vulturesociety.homestead.com/TVFacts.html

Thanks for these, texascbx!
