Special Sunday afternoon. Beautiful light and nature captured with the panny 20mm with my GF1. Photo's are not touched in any way and this lens really is something special.

The first is my dad's watermelon plant. This is a baby melon about 100mm long.

Icon, thanks for these - they made me smile and reminded me of the simple beauty of every day life in "the backyard". Particularly love the baby melon - very sweet looking. I never really thought about melons quite that way before.

Is the ant shot with just the lens or did you use a supplementary close-up "filter"?

Hey thanks everyone for your thoughts. It's really encouraging.
We just ate the first melon off that melon vine today and it was literally mouth watering. Sorry for my ignorance but do they grow watermelons in the UK?


For Justified Sinner's question. I just had the lens about 19-20cm away from the ant. But it looks closer than that because the ant is really big. We have some wild looking creatures in Australia. Even though these ants are huge they don't bite ,but out west further they have what you call meat ants. They can really nock you clean for a bit if they decide to have some fun.

The melon has a way to go but up in sunny QL no probs
you got the light in #2, that ant looks menacing...

Hey thanks Jake. I used Apple iphoto. I have LR as well but iphoto is just really simple and effective for a guy like me who doesn't need to tweak his photos much. It has the basics but nothing special like Photoshop or LR, which is great in one way because i know exactly what each feature does. And i learnt it in about 3 hours of mucking around.
