@nueces snapper ..... i've seen this guy quite a bit fishing in the river. Having the panny 45-175mm gave me the opportunity to capture this one. Otherwise i can't get close either

No, never thought of video. There were over 20 of them mobbing me at the peak of the frenzy. Since I never shoot video, I didn't think of that. I was too busy trying to keep them away, have the cake and coffee myself, and squeeze off a few shots one handed while I did that. The quality of my shots improved drastically once I'd finished eating and drinking and could push the plate and cup away from me and get a bit of distance between me and the birds. A lot of the birds flew off once I finished anyway, leaving just the ones in those 2 shots. It was a lot easier getting a couple of good shots when they were all in front of me and not all over me, and I do mean all over me.

Couple of tropical kingbird shots taken with the GF1 and the 45-200mm lens, my backyard in the avocado tree, again. I'm not sure whether this is courting behavior or if that's a lazy full grown baby of the first bird.

I have been shooting ducks at 50mm with a dslr and slr with no problem, but I have got no idea how you manage to catch the smaller birds with 50mm, they are all so paranoid that 400mm is the minimum here in Iceland.
