It is small, light, has a nice zoom range (28-112mm equivalent), the lens is fast at f/2-f/2.8, 2/3" sensor which is larger than most compacts, 12mp, the high ISO performance is on par with any m4/3rd 12mp sensors, and it produces great results in most situations, even in in auto mode.
Best part.... $600 is the normal price, but you can get it Used - Like New on Amazon for under $450.

Further clarification from the other half: size wise she wants it just a bit bigger than her iPhone 3. Any M4/3 still in the running for her?

Just saw this. The X10 may be a little larger than she is asking for, but if she actually saw the IQ and ease of use she might accept the slightly larger size.
