I recently got a G3. I really do like this little camera. I normally shoot with a Canon 1DMKII and a varity of fast glass. I am amazed at how light I can now travel. Have found the little G3 works well in all but sports like shooting.

Well,
I'm definitely loving my x100 that I just got last week...

I guess I could try both. You’re a bad influence on me RT Panther ;)

Personally have not tried the G3, but ive read that its quite close to an OMD in terms of IQ, and for me, every day that passes and i shoot, play and work (yes, WORK) with my OMD, i come to the conclusion that i think it is "the 5DMK-whatever" of the "smaller than FF" sensor cameras. period.

Tex... I think you'll really like the G3... it's a great camera and produces images with quality in the same ballpark as the E-M5. It's a steal for the money. I think when we hear from you after receiving it, you'll be beaming with beautiful, sharp, well focused images and smiling from ear to ear.

I sure hope. This is a great community and some wonderful photographers. I 'could' afford to keep the X100 - I'm still up in the air on sending it back or not.

You could keep them both, a nice kit, but you still don't have your wife's iPhone-sized point and shoot. Do you still have enough budget to upgrade her to the 4S?

Pretty much. She wants to research it for herself so it's not a priority for her right now. My rationalization if I keep both is to have the M43 replace the Nikon 7000 I was thinking of buying soon to go with the X100. That means I'll probably prioritize my blow money for the Panny 100-300.

You should try both. Just be careful, and keep everything pristine. Don't even take off the tags or plastic on the LCD. Try them both, just to see. Otherwise, you'll always be wondering.

You already ordered the G3, so perhaps it doesn't matter, but that $500+ difference for a fixed focal length is a pretty big deal for someone who has kids. Flexibility is pretty important for you right now, in my experience.

Something like a 100-150 shot limit for your 30 days at BHphoto I recall.
