Stairwell, Yale University Center for British Art. Architect: Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974). The Center for British Art was Kahn’s final work and was completed after his death. This stairwell is installed in a cement cylinder and is located across the street from his first major commission, the Yale University Art Gallery. The Art Gallery opened in 1953 and also features a stairwell installed in a cement cylinder.
