I just noticed this thread. I've had a G3 for a number of months now, and have taken over 1000 photo's with it. I'm so confident in this little camera's abilities and the lenses for the m4/3 system that I sold my entire Nikon system which consisted of a D700, f/2.8 zooms and some other stuff.

That was two months or so ago. I haven't missed it once. The OMD is really trying to get me to buy it, but from the images I've seen, it just isn't worth it yet. To me, this says a lot about how good the G3 is, even more so when you factor in the cost. Yes the body could be more robust. Yes the controls are a bit small and I'd love a 2nd control dial. Yes I'd like in body image stabilization for Oly lenses. Oh well though. I've had the G3 hanging from my SpiderHolster for miles of hiking or on a BlackRapid strap and while there are a few dings and scratches on the body, she still works beautifully.

Personally, I'm hoping to contain the GAS until Panasonic's next salvo or a PEN with a built in EVF.

Some examples just to prove that I don't just post on forum's:

Exclamation Not long now...

Just 6 days and 6 nights till I get my G3+14-42!

I tried to sell the E-PL1+14-42 but sadly no takers, so it is going the way of fleabay!

I can't wait to see how much better my photography will be with an EVF, as my long-sightedness has been a big problem for all but my carefully composed or laboratory shots.

And I hope that the better glazed Pana kit lens will be that much better too!

Arrow The E-PL1?

I was wanting £150 for the E-PL1+14-42 with a retro PEN case, but postage cannot be included to the U.S. I am afraid!

I would love to visit Oregon one day, there is a quite hard to find Scorpion in those parts!

My wife just gave me a G3 and it took less than a day to convert me from my E-PL2 (which is a great camera!). The fast focusing is going to amaze you; and the image quality is excellent. I had a G1 a few years ago and had to shoot RAW because JPGs were pretty poor. The JPGs from the G3 are very good, but you will probably need to adjust for your preferences. Enjoy!

Arrow Oh by the way...

Can someone tell me how to see the actuation count on a G3?

I am going to get it now and will keep an eye on this thread, as well as looking through the forum for info.

My collegue claims it has had less than 100 actuations since he bought it before christmas 2011!

I can't wait to try the Rosso Red G-force out, especially with the Tamron and as I hear that the Pana kit lens is just that bit better than the others, I am even more expectant of good results.

My long-sighted eyes are going to be able to see in focus without glasses whilst shooting for the first time in many years because of the diopter adjustable EVF!

Talking Got it!

It has 187 actuations, bought 02/01/12, not registered(just did it and have a fresh 12 month warranty), Only body/battery/kit 14-42 been opened and is in spankingly nice condition.

I added an SD card, swithed it on, adjusted the diopter setting on the EVF and I am good to go.

Yes the manual sucks and the menu layout is wild, but shoot it is nice.

As good as it is, I think I will find that the E-PL1 is all but redundant.

Two points:

(1) Your E-PL1 will still be useful with lenses that don't have OIS because it has IBIS. So don't be too hasty to get rid of it.

(2) If you have to return the camera or lens under warranty you will need to provide evidence of the date of original purchase. The warranty runs from that date, not the date it was registered.
