One of the things I don't like about the G5 is all the little decorative touches and logos all over the camera. It looks like a laptop floormodel at bestbuy (OMG INTEL i5 PROCESSOR! HDMI! 7.1 SURROUND SOUND!)

I know what the flash release is, I don't need to see the icon. Nor do I feel the need to tell everyone in the world that I have a LUMIX camera. I'm not getting paid to advertise the brand haha. I think I can also remember that the big red recording button is for video recording.

So 5 min and some electrical tape resulted in my new 'almost all black' G5.







Maybe someone will find this useful, and if nothing else, here are some real world shots showing the dimensions more accurately (last ones I put up had some wide angle distortion).

Hmmm... I never quite got the whole debadging thing. To me it just looks like a generic black blob. Then again I use a blue G2, so I guess I like my camera to stand out from the sea of black cameras.

On another note, thanks for sharing the pix. It's good to finally see more real world photos of the G5.

It reminds me of how they used to cover up logos on TV shows. Now, of course, they sell "product placement" and the packages and bottles are shown in close-ups...!

All the black bars make it look slightly "dirty" to me...like it belongs in the camera porn thread.

By the way, you missed the model number on the 14-45 hood. For that matter why not the "Lumix" on the lens itself, and the "14-45", and the lens specs of the 40-150...where do you draw the line?

Can you imagine how much money Klein Bicycles paid to have that Klein that Jerry Seinfeld never ever rode even once on the show hanging on his wall?

Damn. I guess I'll get on it after I black out all the logos off my clothing, shoes etc. I agree it's a slippery slope, but they really threw as much crap onto the exterior as they could on this camera imo. The big LUMIX and gold square in the corner does nothing for me..

Yeah, I agree it's probably over-badged. The strange thing is that they just have the "G" (as opposed to "G5"), so they showed some restraint there. Unfortunately that makes it tougher to distinguish the G3 from the G5 (although I know there are several other external clues), so no one recognizes that you have the "next big thing."

Anyway, I'm probably closer to Spatulaboy on this entire topic...my black E-PL1 wears a bright yellow skin.
