I did manage to get out and take some shots ... yep just auto and IA mode... quite happy with what it could do.
When I'm JWA I set it to Programmed mode and IA mode with the 14-45mm mounted and set for Large/Fine jpegs for any quick grab shots that present themselves. When I am being "serious" I shoot RAW and set it for Aperture Priority mode, and when I am doing HDRs I set it for C1 where I have all that stuff set up and use manual focus and RAW and fixed ISO, etc.

I think P with IA does a pretty nice job though, especially if you don't have time to think the shot through and do all the custom settings.

Welcome!

My first micro 4/3 camera is the GX1 too! I've shot the entire time in RAW as I really wanted to use lightroom to keep all my files organized and for easy processing. From everything I've seen you will get much better dynamic range out of shooting in RAW.

I've shot in A mode most of the time starting with just the 14mm pancake and the Panasonic Leica 25mm. I did quite a bit of low light shooting right off the bat and I can say this camera worked well beyond my expectations. One thing I can recommend is setting your Auto ISO to 1600 (3200 is still usable for smaller prints). I've been quite pleased with low light 1600 shots from this camera. The reason I'm emphasizing the feature is that you can keep your shutter speed fairly high most of the time.

iA mode has worked very well for me also. When I hand the camera off to my gf, it makes this camera pretty much a point and shoot!

Like michaeln, I bought a Think Tank Retrospective 5 to carry my gear in. I have the camera with the EVF, 14/25/45 primes lenses, a Minolta 50 with adapter, filters, cleaning supplies, etc. This little bag can hold a ton of stuff!

Can highly recommend the Think Tank Retrospective 5. I've got exactly the same in mine with the addition of a 20mm f1.7, Cokin P Filter set and holder and I sometimes stash my iPad in the front pocket as well, although thats not ideal... Also I use the Tamrac filter puch and thats velcroed onto the side straps :)
