Default GX1+ 14-45mm

Took my old faithful 14-45mm f3.5-5.6 for a spin on the GX1 today as I wanted to shoot some landscapes.

I had forgotten just how good this lens is and why I kept it and got rid of the 14-42X lens that came with the GX1.

Thanked by DHart, dixeyk, Mellow and 13 others.

Possibly the best kit zoom lens ever made... every M4/3 should own one!

Good shots, I particularly like the first one.
How do you think the P14-45 would compared to the P12-35? I have to admit that I use my kit O14-42 quite a bit, despite it's numerous short comings and have been giving some thought to a more premium standard zoom.

If you have the spare cash then why not... the 14-45 or Oly 14-42 are sharp enough for most of us the 12-35 is £800 and I bet the only difference is the bank balance!
For the same price as that lens you could get the stunning oly 9-18 and PL 25 1.4! just my opinion!

Great shots. I just returned my 14-42mm power zoom. The 14-45mm is clearly more reliable. If I want something compact, I'll just run with the 20mm or bring my LX5.

Hi Matthew,

The 12-35 is a constant aperture f2.8 and supposedly a better constructed lens but at a premium price.

My lens lineup is this 14-45, 25mm f1.4 & the newer 45-175X lens - I probably use the 25mm most of all but do mix lenses.

Panasonic made a lot of hype about the 14-42X lens (that I did own) but alas for me, it was a total disaster and it's only good point was the size so I am a little skeptical and will wait to read user reviews of the 12-35, when it drops in price dramatically may look a little more closely but until then, I will continue with a known performer (14-45).

I think you will be "stuck" with the 14-45 then. The 12-35 is a premium lens and I think it will retain its high price much as the premium Canon L 24-70 and Nikon 24-70 have.

Nice pics though :)
