Got the 14 and 25 here. No problems.

I played with the 20 a bit but I didn't really like the auto focus so I went for the 25 instead. There have been reports for aperture blade chatter and I experienced it once my self. But it's not something that bothers me and I have a hard time duplicating it.

You'll get banding with just about any camera system when you push the ISO, I wouldn't be too bothered by it.

I just picked up a 25 mm Summilux DG and I was surprised that after the first day of shooting, I had HEAPS of chromatic aberration.

I never noticed CA on my Olympus m.zuiko lenses using my Om-d EM-5. Yet the Leica is a lot more expensive. I would have thought that these artifacts would be a lot less.

Does anyone know why the Olympus lenses barely show fringing?

The Olympus doesn't correct for CA with Pan. lenses as it does with Oly lenses. LR4 fixes it easily.

It's interesting how much distortion and CA correction goes on behind the scene with cameras and software these days. I took a look at one of my Canon shots with a 24-105 L lens without correction and couldn't believe the barrel distortion. With the correction on. it's gone.

Although longitudinal CA isn't corrected in any camera/lens combo, and the PL 25 just has a whole lot more of that (esp at 1.4, on my Pana and Oly cameras) than the Oly 45.

Damn. I had no idea. I'm gonna stick with oly lenses for my omd from now on. Not only for the CA correction but the fact that oly lenses also autofocus a lot faster.

The pl25 is fast but not as fast as my zuiko 45mm I found.

I think you'll find it more productive to learn how to remove CA in post-processing than to exclude from consideration those Panny lenses for which there may be no comparable Oly lens. For instance, what Oly μ4/3 lens would you substitute for your PL25? Answer: there is no Oly μ4/3 lens in the 20-25mm range.

That's one of the beauties of μ4/3: two manufacturers with interchangeable lenses and cameras. The issues are manageable.
Thanked by marklikesit.

I wouldn't say it's replaces the PL25, but oly does have the 4/3 25...

If Mark is looking for fast autofocus, I'm thinking the adapted 4/3 lenses wouldn't satisfy...but it is an Oly option! I edited my post to be specific to μ4/3.

Thanks for all your feedback guys. You're right that there is no replacement for the PL25. That's why I wanted it so much. But I was just so surprised at the amount of CA I saw coming out of it.

I've been trying to remove CA via Aperture and Photoshop CS5 and so far it's not easy. Everyone says that Lightroom is good at this but I I don't have it :(

Just wanted to mention that while I was shooting with the PL25 today, there was lens chattering, on two occasions.

I switched the camera on and off both times to get it to stop. Sounds really nasty. What's going on in there I wonder?
