This is the key to everything!

Thanks for the update! I have been an extensive user of the splash sealing, so when I first saw this thread I was very disappointed. But this is welcome news.

Amen to that

As someone who works in technical support for a living, I can vouch for the fact that being polite and treating reps with respect will get you farther than yelling and berating the person on the other end of the phone. Side note, but that goes the same for telemarketers btw; calling someone names or being a jerk is actually far *less* effective than politely and firmly requesting they remove you from their call lists and stop calling.

Glad you got this covered under warranty!
Thanked by twokatmew.

The lady I talked to earlier today just called me back a few min ago. She had gone to her director and explained the situation. They decided to cover the cost of the repair for me.

So, when going out into wet weather, have a checklist: SD card, battery, covers top and bottom.
Excellent, and thanks for the warning!

I would assume the same thing. Hopefully we are both correct. :)

Have any of you manual-readers seen a reference to which covers must be in place?

I hope that you are both correct, as my top cover, like many others, disappeared within the first week of use - probably even day one!

I've caught the bottom cover trying to escape several times (it now has some tape over it to keep it in place) and I'm pretty sure that the eyecup is doing its best to free itself from my ownership too. Who knows, maybe even the eyecup is a seal for warranty purposes.

Good to hear that you got sorted though.

Great news! I have to send my E-M5 to Olympus. I'm noticing I'm getting a tiny stress fracture on the middle screw on the lower part of the LCD panel. I hope they cover this under warranty!
