I think I'm in the same boat, tried YN-462 and even FL-36 on hot shoe, both would not flash while the FL-LM2 flashes just fine. Seriously I think Olympus needs to look into this.

Make sure you go the menu and select "SHOOTING MODE 2" and and select RC "OFF"

I'm aware that RC is off, for both FL-36 and FL-LM2 cases.

FL50R on EM-5 hotshoe not working?: Micro Four Thirds Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

For those who still have this problem. I just sent mine to Olympus for a repair of the hotshoe circuit.
