One thing I have noticed, nowhere in the manual does it mention compatibility with the FL-36 flash, although from all I can determine, it functions perfectly, both on-camera and as a remote unit controlled by the included FL-LM2. Olympus may be pushing a tad too hard for owners to purchase the FL-600R, which has the same GN as the FL-36. Is anybody aware of an ovewhelming reason to discard a FL-36 in favor of a FL-600R?

The FL-36R and the FL-50R both sync at lower shutter speeds than the E-M5 is capable of. IIRC, it's 1/180th for the FL-50R and 1/200th for the FL-36R. Word on the street is that the FL-600R will sync to the max 1/250th speed.

Thanks! Just set the parameter to 1/200.

You probably should set the high sync speed at 1/250 and the low sync speed to 1/60. The dedicated Olympus flashes will set the camera to its (the flashes) highest sync speed. Something I noticed on the M5, when using a non-dedicated flash in manual mode (Nikon SB-26), 1/250 is the top sync speed as opposed the the Pen's where it will sync at 1/320. Another thing I noticed, the shutter on the Pen's move in the opposite direction, bottom to top as opposed to top to bottom (or vise versa). This is very apparent when exceeding the top sync speed, the Pen's have the black band at the bottom, the M5 has the black band at the top.

Default One Good Day of Shooting and then . . . .

Got mine on April 26, but didn't really have a chance to shoot with it until yesterday. I took it out for the day and got some nice shots, but kept having the problem that, when shooting with either of my two Panasonic lenses (7-14 and 20mm) the camera would suddenly go dead. I could restart only by removing the battery. Thought maybe updating the software would help, but when I tried that this morning, the camera went dead and won't respond to anything. Looks like I'll be calling Olympus tomorrow. Anyway, here are some of my shots from yesterday.

Thank you so much for this!
I was thinking that my G3 viewfinder was way better than the new one because of the slight blur I was getting. Now I have one more thing to love about this camera. The first hour with it was a very mixed bag, but each hour using it since has been nothing but delight.I especially love the flip out lcd for low shots in an instant.

Default Didn't want to add to the endless array of EM5 threads.

For what its worth, I have crossed beyond the 1500 shutter count threshold, so I thought I would throw together a rambling of my thoughts regarding the E-M5. No pro specy-techy talk, just some free typing of thoughts as they come to mind, just from a man who likes to shoot.

Forgive the long winded nature of my keyboard ;-)

Sammyboy... I've had some hours to explore with the E-M5 a bit and while I don't see any reason to change my views or previous post on the camera, I do agree with your point that the camera may inspire one to shoot more and perhaps venture down a few new avenues.

Having shot the G3 (and e-PL3) for nearly a year before getting the E-M5, I don't see the E-M5 improving on the G3's IQ or high-ISO performance over what I've known already. But the E-M5 certain is leaps ahead of the E-PL3 in terms of IQ and high-IOS performance. I think the G3's IQ performance may still be superior at high ISO's, but I do find that the controls on the E-M5 are much better than the controls on the G3 or the E-PL3 and I find that inspiring me to shoot it more. The inspiration may well be, in part, attributable to the newness, as well.

As I mentioned earlier, I anticipated this body and expected that I would like it and I find that I like it even more than I thought I would. The controls are wonderful and I do like the improved IBIS. Nice camera! I'm looking forward to using it a lot!

Default Noise Reduction Setting Problem

I was going to do some experimenting with the NR settings yesterday and noticed that after turning Noise Reduction OFF, I couldn't turn it back on again? The menu item seems to be disabled. I'll probably have to do a Reset to start again.... any ideas anyone???

I'm wondering if this is just me. But the mode dial on my camera seems wobbly. Kind of hard to explain. When I put my thumb on top I can wobble it down as if it to suffers from the spongy nature of the button weather sealing.

Its not really a big deal, I am just curious if anyone else has noticed this or if I have a problem.
