Kevin, first I love your photography, best of the best is "I can fly", it is obvious that you don't need any more crap in a camera because you make what you have sing with zest. I envy you in Paris, how I enjoyed five days there, should have been more, love it would love to see it again but alas, to old, to far so I have memories. Cheers!!

For me (in order of perference for improvements):
1. ISO 100 native + a menu setting to use only native ISOs vs. intrapolated ones.
2. 1/8000s shutter
3. Better DR (at least 1.5 steps)
4. 2 Stop High ISO performance - not a tweak but a significant gain in
performance.
5. Peaking type function to really make working with Manual lens much easier.
6. Thinner Body but without any surface mount protrusion.
7. Wireless trigger function + Screwed Shutter button
8. 3, 5 & 7 step bracketing option.
To keep as is:
- Classic Rangefinder Body Design of the EP2/EP3
- Fixed Touch Screen
Leave the following to a Formal PRO edition)
- Built in EVF (unless a Pro version comes to be - I don't want it to be a larger camera or lose the new built in flash just to accomodate a VF)
- Weather proofing unless it doesn't affect the size the camera (once again, leave that to a Pro model)
- Dual Cards
- More expensive & better battery

I was always eyeing a Sigma DP2s but with too many short comings to be my only body. Finally treated myself to proper camera. An Olympus EP-2 with a kit lens. 20mm/1.7 soon to be had, and the addition of a legacy zoom. May still get a used DP2s for landscape photography.. just something about that Fovean look. If anyone has a PS action replicate it, please let me know.

Thanks Bill.... sadly I no longer live in Paris.... now in Gent, Belgium... which has its own charms
I do have to smile at all these wish lists.... while many of them are desirable requests... none of them are absolutely necessary... I am still very happy with my E-P1 with its apparently inferior noise and high ISO.

However, some shooting I did recently on the Canon 5D did rekindle my love of using a viewfinder
Arnhem 2011 - a set on Flickr
I could I suppose go buy a Panasonic today... If I didn't think that the GH3 wasn't around the corner...then I would probably plump for a GH2 right now... as I am getting more into the video aspect of things

- Updated sensor, as others have said, prefer focus on DR and noise performance, not mpx
- Tilt screen w/o increasing body depth
I have changed course on the EVF - I only want a built-in EVF, if it does not increase body size (or only increases very slightly). Otherwise, I really like the accessory viewfinder that I can use when needed, but don't have the bulk when I don't. Maybe it could somehow use another port, instead of the shoe.

This is going to sound crazy ... but oh well.
If I could get Olympus to make my dream "pro Pen" then it would essentially be a modified version of the Olympus E-1 DSLR without the mirror (so the body is slimmer from front to back), built-in high resolution EVF where the old viewfinder was, a 3-inch touchscreen swivel LCD, front and rear control wheels similar to the old E-1, 5fps (or faster) burst shooting with IS turned on, all the magnesium alloy construction and weather sealing of the original E-1, and everything else essentially the same as the E-P3 only with better dynamic range or at least an "easy HDR" mode similar to the NEX cameras where the camera takes multiple exposures in rapid succession (without the need for a tripod) and then creates a single image with greater dynamic range.
There's a reason that so many of us old E-1 owners hold onto that camera and so many others are still trying to find gently used E-1 bodies despite the fact that the camera is ancient by modern digital camera standards. If Oly wants to DOMINATE the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera market then they need a modern day E-1.
The NEX-7 comes close in some ways ... but I know that Olympus can do better.

I find this thread very funny because everyone above wants things that are not on the E-3 and at this moment Henrys' in Toronto don't seem to have any in their stores but they have three in their warehouse.....now we all know that you can't sell cameras if they are in the warehouse so they might as well not have any.....having said that I went to Henrys downtown last week and again uptown to see this camera, to feel it in my hands and they didn't seem anxious to get one in stock for people like me. I am going to Henrys big show out at the Pearson International Airport and visit the Olympus booth and see just what is going on!!!! Am I mad? Nooooo I think it is funny.....I don't know how they can sell cameras that they don't have in their stores!!!

Same body style as the E-P3, continued ability to disable the touch screen, a better sensor with improved DR, could go up to 16MP but not a big deal.

[QUOTE=Armanius;160992]The one common request that I see is built-in VF (or EVF).
It's too bad you, Fujifilm and Sony can all see that but Olympus hasn't been able to.
I really like some sort of eye-level finder (optical or electronic), and I really had hoped that the E-P3 would get an in-built EVF. Apparently a lot of other people hoped for that too.
If they could have delivered faster AF with a good internal EVF in the E-Px style body I would have upgraded. Even if they hadn't upgraded anything else, I would have bought one of these. For me, I hardly ever use internal flashes, but an EVF, well that I would use all the time.

I guess I must be the only person who's 99% happy with their camera..... I'd be 100% happy if they'd retrofit a locking mechanism to my VF-2 free of charge....
