Default Which kit lens for the E-M5? 12-50mm or 14-42mm?

What are the pros and cons of buying the 12-50mm over the 14-42mm kit lens?

12-50mm over 14-42mm II R.

+ Wide angle, macro, weather seal, little more zoom ratio, look better on OM-D, elec zoom.

- Longer - bigger, heavier, expensive

Quality seem same. 14-42mm shoot video seem better. I like 14-42mm II R MSC but love Pany 14-45mm more!

Get the body-only package and pick up the MMF-3 and Zuiko 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II as your kit lens. ;)

It works as a kit lens for the E-30, so why not the E-M5?

that combo will be better with the grip.
do you think it will AF as fast as on the E-30?

The 14-54mm is a very compact lens... it doesn't need the grip. :)

But no, it won't AF as fast as on the E-30. It will provide just as fast exposure, and just as sharp images. I would think that's more important, personally. ;) The Mark II version is usable in the AF department.

I like that the 12-50 is weather sealed and does macro but think it looks a bit long on the E-M5. The 14-42 would be smaller and more compact.

That said, I got body only and most likely getting the 14-45 as kit lens :D Don't really need weather seal, never had any problem with any of my other cameras.

Hi,

I have MMF2, will it work with the oly 4/3 14-54mm f2.8, I have E-PM1 and G2 will this lens work well(good quality images) with these 2 cameras? Also I assume I would be able to use auto-focus as well.
