Is it a new camera? can you exchange it? If not send it in to Olympus, they need to know this is happening. A guy on another forum had a similar issue too.

The one that frustrated me the most was I was shooting a waterlily (white with a darker background) at ISO 640 and f/6.3-7.1 is should have come out great. I've done the exact shot two days before and it was fine. But that day I changed everything I could and the photos were still coming out VERY dark. Almost washed out grey/black looking. I tried so many times to get he shot and just couldn't. The next day I tried again and it came out perfect? I;m not sure what the issue was? It didn't happen every time. And re-shooting would sometimes work, like with the waterlily. But re-shooting the brighter sky shots I could NEVER get them to work right.

With this new camera I shot the tree in my front yard with a lot of sky in it, and purposely let it blink at 1/4000 instead of dialing down the ISO and snapped it and the sky is white and the dark tree was dark. But the sky was white! With the old camera the sky would have been dark or black with the tree, when it should have been white.

I'd get it looked at ASAP if I were you. Good luck and let us know what happens!

cookme and others here are examples from the new OMD. As you can see what I was saying the object is dark and the sky is white/bright. With the old one the sky would have been very dark or black. These were purposely taken with the 1/4000 flashing (meaning it was too bright) I don't normally shoot this way, but I wanted to make sure this new one was metering right, or whatever the issue is/was.

finally got a chance to send mine in... got it back after two week with a new shutter, LCD bezel/panel (for cracks by the screws), new internal battery for date&time issue, and the 1.6 firmware. the total shot count remained about the same however.

now I am happy :)
