Thanks for that.. Does it show as an fn3 button in the menu?

I wonder if the good people over at OwnUser are working on this problem right now.. I feel that they would be wise in producing a simple battery grip that is a one piece cheaper solution.

We're also getting the free grip in Spain and, boy, does it make a difference! I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay the asking price for it, but having used it I find it a must-have.

Maybe it is just my hands but has anyone experienced inadvertent shutter releases when using both sections of the grip in landscape orientation? I find that the base of my right hand sometimes bumps the shutter release button on the lower section (which is intended for portrait use) even though I am intending to use the shutter release on the upper grip section.

You can turn off the power to the controls for the portrait part of the grip.

I got a free grip with my E-3 back when, but I used it twice in my years with that camera. I like my cameras to be as small as doable, which is why I changed to M43. For photography other than accidental, I prefer a built in viewfinder, this was the reason I went for the GH2. To me, a big advantage of my new EM5 over that GH2 is that there's less bulk. The last days I've been getting accustomed to the feel of the new camera, and I found the camera as is a pleasure to handle. So no grip for me. For that kind of money, I would have liked a free 600R flashlight though....

I think it would be a pretty decent compromise to give up the control wheel and use the semi juryrigged shutter release/battery pack like they did for the GH2 if they could do it for 200$ cheaper.

There is a lock switch to disable those controls on the grip.
