How many westerners would buy a product with the number 13, E-13? It's so silly that they call the 13th floor in buildings 14.
The aversion to 13 even has a medical term: triskaidekaphobia. It is controlled by drinking large quantities of your favorite alcoholic beverage....
Thanked by EP1-GF1.

Well, start with this camera that required cocking the shutter before every shot and carrying both a light meter and a distance finder when you were 6:

Get a fully manual SLR when you're 11 and use it for 20 years, and process your own images in a chemical darkroom...

Seriously though, it's about stance, supporting the camera including lens (comfortably, some sites suggest a "right way" to do it, but it's uncomfortable), and when you take the shot don't breathe; I just take in a little air before the shot, NOT a deep breath, and squeeze the trigger, not letting go until the shutter closes.

Here's one I took with the E-330 at 14mm for 2.5 seconds (no IS):

If it's not too hot this year I'll attempt the same shot at the same event with the E-M5 with IS on.

I always thought this as well.. But after working in leasing for a while, I did run into some situations where it wasn't necessarily a superstition thing. Above the mid-rise height in buildings, the 13th floor is sometimes used for much of the duct work, boilers for the lower levels or general maintenance use, etc... known as a "mechanical floor" and generally left off the elevator/apartment level numbering because you wouldn't want the general public or residents getting there easily.

Not always the case, but its what I ran into a lot in property management where there was a 13th, just not listed. Elevators skip them and alternative access is required.

Many older buildings did in fact skip it due to fears of resident superstition. One of our buildings even skipped apt #13 and went on to #14.

As for the hum... I received my OM-D in April and to my recollection I've heard it twice. Once a couple weeks after I got it and remember the thread complaining about it, so I put my ear to it and heard it. A second time last month when a friend asked about it and reminded me it was something people complained of. Its a non-issue for me, but I shoot mostly street and on location work.
