I can only recommend the Aki-Asahi products. They're the product of craftsmanship and easy to install. This is the red lizard on my Contax S2, another one of those great looking classic cameras, kind of like the E-M5. By the way, I was shooting my E-M5 yesterday evening and somebody asked me whether I had switched to film again...

Wait a second, could it have been an early OM-D prototype in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction?
Thanked by Printfolio.

Wow, that's gorgeous. I love the old Contaxs. My Planar 50/1.4 is probably my favorite lens.

By the way, I'll probably throw one of these on my E-M5 after the warranty runs out.

How long is the warranty? I'll start counting down now.

Default They're in...but still some questions!

The EM-5 skins are now available at http://aki-asahi.com/store/ $16 + $2.50 for the brass 'filler' plates + $4 shipping.

I have emailed them to ask about the 'G-17 glue' listed for $2.50 - whether it's needed for the kit and included, or needed but not included, ie, extra cost.

Finally, I have asked if the brass, etc can be removed and the original skin pieces put back - which would be a good thing (though labor intensive), if warranty repair were needed.

The nice thing about the skins for E-P1,2,3 was that they could be easily removed, leaving no evidence of their use. This is more of a commitment, although it seems clear that at least the skin part of the kit can be removed/replaced. This would be no problem for the Silver E-M5 - one of the skins is a good match for the OEM skin. However, unless Aki-Asahi can offer a skin matching the Black E-M5, there is no easy way to get it back to original.
Thanked by Jonathan F/2.

Here is the Aki-asahi brown croc skin on my OM-1MD. Sof far it has held up very well and I don't find it any more slippery than the original leatherette.

Why the color is so different? is it the result of your post processing?

Looking at the OM-D skin, that must be a different brown croc material - Mine is from a few years ago and its definitely a dark reddish brown with near-black darker areas as in the photo I posted. The one on the OM-D is definitely lighter with reddish brown darker areas. Still nice looking though.

I'm gonna buy one and dye it with coffee to make it looks like yours? lol
Thanked by Bokeaji.

No so ridiculous - I bought an E-PL1 half case and dyed the leather and the stitching a darker brown with shoe cream. I'm sure the same could be done with the Aki Asahi skins (though I'd do it before the skin was applied to the camera rather than after)
