Could you describe that a little more? Would it be possible to show the initial image compared with pp? The end effect is very cool, and I'm curious how much of the effect the lensbaby contributed.

Agreed - these are some awesome shots, really look like paintings. I would love to know how the texture overlays worked. Excellent shots!
Thanked by Uwharrie.

Default texture overlay

Not the OP, but I figured I chime in. Youtube has many tutorials involving photoshop, but if you want to give it a try for free you can always use GIMP.

Great shots, I love the first one. I'm a big fan of macro, and these are fantastic! I want to try out the new the 80mm I've seen some real good shots from it.

for those that don't want to watch the video, simply get a texture and put it over the top layer of your image and you can play with the blending modes (normal, overlay, soft light, etc) then you adjust opacity, create a mask and mask off the parts you don't want as much texture showing, then it looks like the OP might have created a new layer and chose a color and filled the layer with a solid color and brought down the opacity on it.

Basically, I find an appropriate texture and stick it on top. Next comes the fun. As others mentioned, you play with color, contrasts and opacity. Also blend modes effect the look as well. I then use masking to get rid of texture that obscures my subject too much.
