A couple from this morning, on the way home from school run...

E-PL1 + mZD 14-150mm f4-5.6
1/320s f/5.6 at 135.0mm iso200

E-PL1 + mZD 14-150mm f4-5.6
1/200s f/5.6 at 150.0mm iso200

I'm really happy with the sharpness wide open aperture at full zoom... this makes a wonderful walkabout lens!

Cheers

Brian

Wow, Brian - I am very impressed with the fine detail and quality! Miss Mallard is gorgeous - that first photo in particular is a real beauty.

Very exciting and to think that my lenses cost so much more than my camera. I guess that's par for the course these days.

Promising results and not particularly unexpected for an 11.7x zoom lens. I have one on order but apparently it's not being shipped in U.S. yet. I hope to have it in July.

I have the GH1 and 14-140, but that lens feels pretty heavy and poorly balanced on my E-PL1.

Hi Phil,

apologies these are a bit rushed, but to give you an idea, here are some shots comparing the E-PL1 + mZD 14-150mm f4-5.6 vs the E-30 + PL 14-150mm f3.5-5.6

Hope that helps!

Cheers

What, if any, is the optical relationship between these two lenses?

Could you please expand on your question? one is made by Panasonic under license (to use the name) of Leica for the 4/3rds mount... it includes Optical Image Stabilisation and opens to f3.5 at 14mm... the other is designed and manufactured by Olympus specifically for the m4/3rds mount.

The PanaLeica has the edge for image quality, but not by much.

Cheers

Well, I know that Leica and Pana and Oly are all in bed together in various ways...Oly releases a new lens with the same focal lengths and almost the same f-stops as the famous Leica zoom, both of which are designed for a 4/3 sensor...so are they in any way the same lens design? Or are these totally separate? I don't know of any direct link between Leica and Oly, but...

I'm fairly sure that they're completely different designs. The Olympus lens is specifically designed from scratch for m4/3rds (shorter distance from mount to sensor) and for fast CDAF - with lightweight focusing elements.

Cheers
