There you go... economies of scale in action

...or you could buy the end of line E-P1 (or G1/GH1) and continue with lagging edge wisdom, replacing 1 step behind the 'bleeding edge' of consumerism

They all take great pictures, with practice!

Cheers

Brian

I like the pictures made with the 17mm and am considering buying it. I bought the EP2 with the 14-42 (I couldn't find the 17mm kit at the time). Reading one review says that the 14-42 lens is sharper. Anybody have both lens to compare. I do like what I see on this thread. I want to use this camera for travel and think the combination of the 17mm, as well as the kit lens would be perfect. Any thoughts on this?

Beth,
The 17 is a very good lens. Nice contrast and very sharp. The FOV is as good as it gets.
The 14-42 is not as sharp and the contrast is not even close.
Enjoy....

Taken at a recent Whiskey Tasting in Germany, with only candelight as illumination, ISO 6400 (!), 1/50th at f2.8.

Cleaned up slightly in Lightroom (color balance, black saturation), resized and that is all.

Got the lens recently at Dodd Camera in Cleveland, demo model (had only been mounted once or twice, it was at one of the smaller stores, not the mother store...) for $100 off. :-)

I own the 9-18mm, the 14-150mm and the 17mm. The 17mm is a great lens, but it is by far the loudest lens of these three. I cannot hear it when I am on the street, but when I tried it at home the first time, I considered that it might be not OK, but came to the conclusion that this is how the lens sounds while focussing.
